What I find useful about you is how structured your videos are. Few asides, very little fat, straight to the point and in order. I wouldn't want EVERY content creator to be like you, but you do your job well.

Thanks, I'm very glad to hear that since it's something I aim for. I don't mind the occasional aside, but I don't like padding. I want these videos to be as accessible as possible, and help people get to the facts as directly as possible.

This video is very enlightening, when it comes to citations (scholarly)and academic research. Excellent essay sir.

Thanks. I'm glad this is here. Much of it was drummed into my head at an early age, but having good explanations all in one place is brilliant. I've often wished for an explainer like this to aim people at.

or alternatively, go the Ayn Rand fan route and just latch on to some idea that appeals to you, find a few hack KZbin videos that say the same thing and declare it to be true objectively because it's just 'common sense'.
@veritasetcaritas11 ай бұрын
It's also a lot easier than actual research.

@@veritasetcaritas I mean you're absolutely right, but my school was shite - there were a lot of things they should've taught but didn't! I only got to uni because I did an access course as an adult and they sure as hell didn't teach it there!

Hello good sir. I'm an undergraduate History student - first year. I was shocked to see how outdated the curriculum is. They don't teach us about historiography and many interpretations of it. In my school we weren't taught the scientific method. The problem arises is that I find this difficult to grasp, I don't know much about historiography though I've started reading The Landscape of History by John Lewis Gaddis after seeing Fredda's video. Another problem I face is that I'm not good at writing eloquently like you and Fredda. My lexicon isn't very great, I just take excerpts from the source I'm referring to. I don't know what should I do? Please could you chanel me into the right direction?
@veritasetcaritas4 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. You may have already watched it, but I would recommend this other video of mine. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmQpWtsfrNnqNk If you're interested in historiography, Fredda's book recommendation is a good start. I intend to make a video on historiography eventually, but these resources may help you. 1. Write a Historiography. guides.lib.uoguelph.ca/c.php?g=725675&p=5198838. 2. Guide for Writing in History. www.southwestern.edu/live/files/4173-guide-for-writing-in-historypdf. 3. A Brief Guide to Writing the History Paper. hwpi.harvard.edu/files/hwp/files/bg_writing_history.pdf. If you are finding it hard to paraphrase your sources due to a limited lexicon, you could try short or long quotations, as described here. owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/in_text_citations_the_basics.html

Just a question here, being published and distributed by Oxford Press makes an article on average of high quality?
@veritasetcaritas10 ай бұрын
Generally speaking, yes. As a general rule academic presses produce articles of higher quality, though this doesn't guarantee quality or accuracy. That's why peer review is important.
