My ipad keeps disconnecting from itunes but the system update/restore still goes on...do I keep it connected? When it disconnects, it goes back to the home screen saying "disabled for 5 min". (Also I wasn't able to do the updating part w/ itunes because I downloaded the latest version...does having an old version and then updating is necessary or can it be done w/o updating if you already have the latest one?)

Great video! We were following Apple's steps from their support site, BUT they did not mention that the start and home button were to be held down simultaneously, which you did, this was the trick that allowed us to restore our locked out iPAD :) Thanks a ton!

Hi there, thanks for the video. So about 2 weeks ago while I was on my ipad (3rd gen - I bought it in 2010) it suddenly restarted and then sent a message saying, "activation required" and it asked for the apple ID and password that was used to set up the ipad. I tried mine and it said "apple ID disabled for security reasons" or "incorrect Apple ID this ID cannot be used to unlock this ipad". I have contacted Apple and they said that if I cannot guess the answers then i will have to wipe it at an istore. The istore says they cannot and that apple has to do it. Will this method help with this? Is it possible to keep my information on it or will I have to wipe it? Thank you.

Well it's complicated How you say that You have Issues Well this method can help your Situation Since you've said that you can figure out your Apple ID And your blocked out of your ID So I think if you do this it might work but might not Because this method requires Passcode if you know it

Can you download the whole data from locked iPad, then save it somewhere on computer, then after that restore iPad to factory defaults? And then when the password is gone you just put everything back on the iPad. Is that possible?

I'm not an expert in technology but I'm guessing you could back up your iPad onto your computer with iBackupBot or iTunes (Any trusted tool to backup your iPad) and make sure the backup is encrypted so it saves all your passwords and then factory reset and after the "Hello" setup you can restore your iPad from the backup on your PC? idk
