I hooked up my iPad to an older Apple Mac Book Pro. I opened iTunes and followed all the instructions. Everything seemed to work but after restoring & update I keep getting an error message and the restoring would fail. I tried this about seven times and I finally quit and decided to hook up the iPad to my newer PC desktop. You should be registered user of Mac to unlock iPad

You can do it like that: turn off iPad and while holding home button plug it into your computer by cable and wait until you’ll see iTunes icon on the screen. That helped with mine

If you haven’t backed up ur iPad to ur Mac or pc it won’t work I tried it :( the only way is to take it to Apple ❤️
