My Australian tip : use a 2nd colour hanger to hang lightly worn clothes that aren't dirty enough to wash. Then you can reach for them first and they don't get muddled up with the clean clothes. You can then wash them if they sit there too long.

Very happy your husband got a new job - congrats! I think maybe your audience is mainly American if they think a 20s house is v old... our house was built in 1885 and because they are so roomy, you can do a lot with the space and reconfigure it to your needs. We sectioned off a third of a ridiculously big bathroom to build a coat/utility cupboard. You can build storage that looks like its part of the house! I now keep our off-season coats etc in there. Or you can use the height to custom-build an entry way unit that goes all the way to the ceiling. There's a lot you can do with an old house!

The Acloset app is genius for tracking what you actually wear. You just take a photo of every piece of clothing in your wardrobe to create a "database". The app uses AI to create outfits from your data, or you can create your own looks and log them daily. I've been using the app for half a year now and I can see which items I wear a lot and which ones I never use. This is making it very easy for me to determine what I should let go of - the data don't lie!

I love your aproache of having no "non-saisonal- storage! I'm from switzerland and I tried to take the non-saisonal stuff out, but find me going bacj to the storage an taking things out, because I needed some of them.. and the rest ended on my bedroom floor.. I do not hang a lot of my clothes, only dresses and pants that get wrinkly. But I sirtet my clothes by sort and then by temperatur on to my shelfs. In the summer the big/ knitted sweaters have to move to the topshelf and the shortsleeves and tanktops can come down, as I will need these more often. It works perfectly and I do not have to buy "warm summer clothes" because I can just wear my fallcardigan on top :)

Ah yes, I had a hilarious wardrobe malfunction at work. I’m a nurse and my scrub pants needed replacing but I was really trying to use them up. I work in pediatrics. Well one night I bent over to pick up something up off the floor for my little patient and the butt of my pants ripped out 😅. It gets better though…the tearing sounded like a fart and my patient starting laughing loudly and telling me, “Ms. Christy you farted” 😂😂 I fell on the floor dying laughing and then had to explain that no, in fact, it was worse than that. My coworkers had to go get me some new pants from the maternity floor while I hung out with my sweet little patient.

I have been wearing the same 3 outfits lately and I like variety even though I don't own a lot of clothing. I look forward to fitting in jeans again for sure. That turning of the hangers is interesting. . .I tend to know what I wear and when I have worn it. I literally can say, "I wore that two Tuesdays ago, Friday, and again today." type of thing. I am sure it works very well for people who are just adjusting to minimalism though, for sure!! I have never heard of a Time Out Box, but that sounds awesome.

Hi! Thanks for your video! Have you heard about or used respectful shoes for children? (They are the ones that respect the natural form of the feet and toes, they are wider and foot shaped) It's just that I'm transitioning right now to barefoot shoes and I realize how much damage we cause to our feet and toes by wearing "normal" spoon shaped shoes. And it's so difficult to repair this damage at my age, but we still can help our little ones to develop their feet correctly from early age 😊

stains- put dish soap on stain days even before laundry. hard stains- soda powder + lemon salt (or anything similar or oxidates with other ingredients)+vinegar or acetic acid for food leave on stains it works hard but gentel , you can leave for days and also soak smelly, very dirty , whites, thrifted exetera . if textile is fine with boild water add some to also directly on stain or in backet and add vinegar from time to time to oxidate or push the "activity" . do it carefully on delicates works great also as bath and toilet cleaner- totally can replace powders and cleaners , almost good as clor for mold. soda and lemon salt maybe you buy plastic free in bulk in markets and midlle eastern shops

Needless to say I let go of a few things I'm not even gonna wear to stay home as I no longer feel comfy in them. Like you Marissa I want only loose stuff on me, so no longer pencil pants/skirts, no jeans that are not large on the legs, especially now that being 52 my body is going through some changes due to premenopause. I have only myself to please so yeah, all good 😊 Oh, I needed a pair of new walking shoes myself, got them and threw away my old ones, which I dunno how &why always end up ripping apart in the inside heel. But how do you think if your "day-to-day"-life is in a uniform and you rarely use your private clothes because of that? Should I get rid of my private clothes or expand the period of how much I use the clothes before getting rid of it?
@meisjeViv Жыл бұрын
You could try packing almost all of your 'private clothes' away in a box and put them on a top shelf or under the bed or in a different closet/room/whatever works for you, and see how you feel about that. I imagine you'll either actively miss some of your clothes and take them out again, or you will have fun 'shopping' from your own clothes a few months later when you go through the box again. After some months of this it will probably become clear to you what to do with the non-uniform clothes!

My problem starts with the basket full of decluttered stuff. Triaging it into categories like ‘wash, iron and try-to-sell, or ‘wash and bring to thriftshop’, or ‘mend and keep’ or ‘mend and give to friend’ or ‘keep as rags material’ or ‘save for children’s dress up’ or etcetera, drives me nuts 😅 usually nothing leaves the house lol.

@williamclark1244 Жыл бұрын
I would suggest getting rid of some of the pieces that you don't feel good in or are the least flattering. We tend to wear only 20% of our clothing anyway so you won't even miss the items once they are gone. Then start to add in new pieces that flow with the pieces that you already own and enjoy. You could also do a clothing swap with some friends. They may have pieces that they don't like that you will adore and vice versa. Sadly, I never benefited from the swap because although my friends couldn't wait to get their hands on my items not one of them had anything that I wanted. lol
@AtoZenLife Жыл бұрын
Yes, if budget is a concern take more of an item-by-item approach. 👍

I'd say you'd be amazed at how few pieces of clothing you can get by with. I mostly wear one pair of jeans and 2 pairs of black pants. I wear and re-wear 3 or 4 T-shirts and a hoodie and a cardigan. Maybe try paring down to the bare minimum that you actually like. (The rest just get in your way and make you feel like you don't deserve anything more because you already have so much). Then try thrift stores (if you have the time), but only buy things you absolutely love, as you can afford them.
