Hi guys in this video all the parts of the my dads old vintage craftsman 100 table saw are ready to be assembled, so thats what we do. I think I did a pretty good job restoring this saw and i wish my dad was still around to see it . I spent the time to even polish out the bolts and washers. so its time to get this awesome saw back together . on all the parts that move I used a dry silicone lube to ensure it won't collect dust on the moving parts. Some people are into the latest and greatest saws but I am in to these Old iron saws and tools so sit back and enjoy this video and I thank you for watching

Just wanted to say thanks for making this video series. My dad had the same saw and I've been trying to take up woodworking after he passed a couple years ago. The lifting mechanism isn't working anymore, and watching your videos really helped me to understand what all the parts are and how it works so I can (hopefully) fix it on my own.

Nice job man !👍 I did the same thing with the exact saw 30 years ago. I added all kinds of upgrades to make it run sweet. Machined and balanced pulleys, pals adjusters, I built a cabinet with dust control, added solid cast iron wings, extension table and biesemeyer fence, the previous owner had a Baldor motor on it. After I got done that thing whistled and ran as smooth as a Cabinet saw.

Wow man congratulations awesome job, your dad and grandfather would be very happy and very proud of you, i am a firm believer in these old saws and i am just now restoring one from 1951 Craftsman 10 inch and it ran real nice but just was neglected and abused and thrown to the curb, well i picked it up and am rebuilding it totally as we speak, very nice job : ) keep up the great work, Sears and a few forums have said this was one of the best saws sears ever put out, its industrial quality and i believe them : ) , have a nice holiday season, your dad and grandpa are smiling down on you sir !

You really did do a great job on this unit. Units these days are so cheat they are not worth rebuilding but older units like this are worth every penny to restore them....

Thank you for sharing; this is exactly what I was looking for. I just received at "100", 113 model from my Dad. Everything is working on the saw, except the angle adjustment is very tough to turn - going to try to clean it and lubricate the mechanism (silicone spray). I have a question, what is the purpose of the small handle that sits above the Elevation Hand Wheel? I found an old manual but difficult to discern the function of this handle. Thanks again for making these videos.

Hi Patrick. Nice job with the restoration. I also have this same model saw and will start on it's restoration soon. My only question to you is, I didn't see any video showing how you restored the cabinet and knobs. That would be very helpful. Thanks.
@Patricksworkshop
@Patricksworkshop 7 жыл бұрын
well the knobs and anything small got hit with the sandblaster for a quick sec , i mean a quick sec to take off the years of stuff then i used a fine abrasive pads to polish them up to a nice shine , as for the cabinet , it wouldn't fit in my small blasting cabinet so i sanded it with 120 sand paper and my orbital sander till i removed as much stuff as i could then i washed it with a good degreaser and water then let it dry in the sun for a few hours then while it was warm from the sun i primered it inside and out then gave it 3 coats of the gold thats pretty much all i did to the cabinet thanks for asking and for watching good luck on your saw restoration I hope my videos and this comment helps you on your restoration ps when u r done please post some pictures and tag me so I can see your saw thanks Patrick

looks amazing and beautiful Patrick. I'm in the middle of restoring the one my uncle gave me. I got all the parts cleaned up and I'm done priming the parts I'm gonna paint. Quick question: after u pained the case and inside parts, did you use any kind of protective coating like a clear coat? so the insides don't get the paint worn off by sawdust, and the outside doesn't get scratches from the inevitable bumps and scrapes from wood or other tools?
@Patricksworkshop
@Patricksworkshop 7 жыл бұрын
thanks Mitchell as for your question i used a good primer and paint rustoleum professional and don't need a clear coat on the parts i figure if the factory didn't put a clear i don't need one either. just figure mine was 66 years old when i restored it it should be good for another 66 years thanks for watching and good luck on your saw

You’ve inspired me to restore mine now. Did you sand blast the cabinet and knobs as well. Curious how you did those and the craftsman logo plate. I’m a little concerned since the cabinet is lighter gage metal.
@Patricksworkshop
@Patricksworkshop 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome to hear so for the cabinet I wish it fit in my little sandblast cabinet but I just used a sanding pad and some elbow grease to clean it up it was in pretty good shape just surface rust so I cleaned it up best I could and sprayed on a rust preventing primer and a few coats of the gold here's where it gets tricky if u have my same saw or any of the ones with the aluminum face be very very careful it scratches off the factory marks so easy I just cleaned mine with Dawn dish soap and a soft sponge if u scrub too hard or use a chemical it WILL remove the lines and number marks so just wash as for the handles I cleaned with SOS pads and polished with chrome turtle wax that's about it the cast iron was the most work

Patrick your work looks great! Because of you I’m now buying a sand blaster . Could you tell me what’s a good enough one /size for doing woodworking shop tools. I’m building a shop from the ground up and I used to be a cabinetmaker prior to a bout with cancer. I’ve been on the web for about 2months now seeing guys like you and great shops. I now have the wood bug back and I can’t go fast enough Im about half way thru dismantling my 3hp Unisaw it’s a 34-802 type 1. Gear puller and all! I’ve learned so much from you in just one night it’s really great you take the time to help others. I can’t find you episode #4 what happened? I’m having my top and mitre gauge and wings ground down with a Blanchard vert.machine the straight grounded so I won’t see the swirls could be a safety issue with line of sight. I used to be a fitter so maybe I’m just overly sensitive about these type of issues.id like to know a few things if you could help me such as were to buy the bearings and how to clean all the non painted parts, what type of grease gets used if any while reinstalling cleaned non painted parts that go into one another .do you use grease for the trunnions? Some say it’s a must some say don’t do it! I’m 100 percent new to all this on line stuff so if I’m missing something sorry about that.oh buy the way do you also have any leads on delta paint colors saw your can of quick dry looks like the right way to go.any help at all would be most appreciated.your dad would be proud of this I’m sure!

I used a very soft sponge and drawn dish soap. If you push to hard or run with sandpaper or anything abrasive it will scratch off the Mark's. So clean very carefully no chemicals or sanding

Patrick, I just watched all 5 videos. A friend gave me a 1976 Craftsman 113.299440 that I began a full restoration of a couple of months ago. All that's left to refinish is the top on which I'll try your vinegar solution. Mine was Craftsman gray but I repainted all parts gloss black and it's looking great. Where did you buy the replacement pulleys? The cradle is exactly like yours despite the Saw being 15 years newer.

Hi Patrick, not sure if you're still active on here. If you are I had a question, how did you make the hand wheels look so good? I'm currently in the middle of a Craftsman 100 TS restoration but the handles are all pitted and the plating is all flaking off.

Hello Michael so when I cleaned up my handles mine had some rust bumps and spots the plating wasn't all flaking off so I was lucky so i began by wet sanding mine using 600 git sandpaper then buffed them with a cheap harbor freight buffing wheel they were good enough at first i was looking for new used ones on eBay buy i wanted to keep the handles that my Dad used

how does your saw look so light? I'm trying to remember if mine's that exact model, but mine appears 10-20 times heavier than yours, or am I just that weak? I'm not a huge guy, but I've managed to move the saw myself a few times.

I have an old Craftsman, made in 1955. I am in the middle of restoration. Can you tell me what color you used for the cabinet housing? Did you get it at Sears? Thanks for the video, good work!

Hello E.D Bogan. I looked around in my paint cabinet to get the can but I must have tossed it. I know it was from the depot and Rust-Oleum was the brand. I think it was one of their metallic gold colors. there is only a couple to pick from

Patrick's WorkShop Thank you sir. That color looks a lot like the color of my saw. I'll look for that color and use that. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work.
