Ok awesome, great overview on the aesthetics of an old wheel - but I'm looking to actually *restore* the old wheels on my 1950/52/60/63/69 cars (International, Jaguar, Porsche). Other than wire wheel/blast to bare steel on the bead rim on the inner side of the wheel rim, and maybe de-rust the inner valley is needed (especially considering bias play to radial?) Just a quick spray of Rust-Oleum clear? Nothing? Powder coat??

On a steel wheel, you'll want to seal it somehow - powdercoat being preferable to a Rusto clear coat. Otherwise, the uncoated steel will be prone to flash rusting or worse. These are alloy wheels in the video, so a refinish / polish on the lips can always be re-polished once oxidation comes back into the equation. They're not susceptible to rusting like steel. We ultimately painted the faces of the wheels to seal them / make them look nice - had we not, they'd end up looking just as bad as when they showed up at our door. Good luck!

Man, I’ve been working on my Epsilon Southern ways wheels for a few months now in my spare time and ya, some serious hours of this. Mine had some pretty bad pitting. The faces I’ve had to do by hand but I painted them black then sanded off the spokes and am polishing those too with a dremmel. I was going to clearcoat the parts a bunch and put them back together soon but I noticed you didn’t mention a clear coat, is that something you did? My first time doing this so truly curious. I like the videos tho, good job for sure! Wheels are going on my 260z😬

If you paint the faces, clear coat those. But anything else youre keeping polished, do NOT clear coat. For these, we painted & clear coated the faces only. Good luck!
