Do you talk about exact investments you’re in? Just low cost S&P index fund or what? Or just company Roth?
@RunningonFIREАй бұрын
Yup! vast majority in low cost index funds like s&p and vanguard total market index (VTI). That's true in 401k, Roth Ira, and my personal investment account.

Yikes, what are you going to do if we have another lost decade in the market? I'm planning for the next lost decade in the market, so I'm 40% SCHD, 20% DGRO, 20% XLP, 10% BND, & 10% BLV. The closing of Party City was an omen, and I'm spooked. 👻 @@RunningonFIRE

Definalty true on the buy a ticket. I live in UK, 2 bedroom rent is $1000 a month minimum. I went to Nairobi, 2 bedroom rent is $400. Haha plus i met my wife here shes is 18. I am 32. To get an 18 yr old girl when ur over 30 as a man in the West, you need millions. So leaving the West once you have passive income is a win win for a man. Start doing research and visiting some countries to see if you like it. Don't want wait till you have x amount or you will fear it all your life. Escape the rat race.

Thanks for the video. My concern lies with the 25x multiplier (also known as the 4%) rule, as that was developed assuming a 30-year period of time. Retiring in your 20’s one would have to assume a much longer retirement duration. Maybe there are other factors with your plan, but this was my initial thought. Regardless the message is spot on and refreshing compared to many other channels out there!

Thanks so much for this comment, it's a good point. I made a whole video on this a few weeks (months?) ago that goes into more detail You're right about the time frame. But even longer timeframes aren't too much different. After all, even using 4%, most accounts have even more money! But 3.5% is about as safe for 50 years as 4% is for 30, if I remember the numbers correctly. People have run the numbers more recently, for longer time frames Appreciate the kind words, too 🤗

Do you have other goal besides retirement? Insead of escaping work or chasing freedom what do you want to do... Do you want a family?
@RunningonFIREАй бұрын
Yeah great question! Honestly, right now I'm really interested in working on my own company/project without concern about immediate income. Even if that's just having more time to spend on this channel and my newsletter! I haven't had a desire to have a family yet, but I know I'll change as I get older. I definitely want a partner one day. No desire to have kids right now, but I know that can change :)

How did you get your 25 to 1 figure?
@RunningonFIRE5 ай бұрын
Yup, 25 to 1 is just a rule of thumb from the 4% rule! I have a video explaining it in a lot more detail if you're interested. I've never heard 2%, that seems reeallllly risk averse.. but hey, it is safer! Even 3-3.5% range is considered really safe. But it's really up to you and your risk tolerance
@RunningonFIRE5 ай бұрын
@@guschtel-y9w yeah I get too bored to not actually make any money 😅 but if I thought I would truly quit work completely, I would save up more than 25x, just because I'm risk averse Of course, it also realllly depends on how much you actually will spend in retirement. That may be different from what you spend while working :)

What about investing your money into stocks S&P500 is very low risk
@RunningonFIRE4 ай бұрын
It's all relaive I suppose. But, over the long run, the S&P 500 has consistently gone up. Not every year, but most years. It has much less risk than most other stock investments. And it has higher returns than less risky investment vehicles (like treasury bonds) Does that answer your question?
