Brilliantly explained, in logical steps. Is there a video of yours explaining the various types of spins and how to read them skillfully? And a video on how to serve various types of spins? Thanks for this video.

Thank you. I am a natural chopper and reasonable defensive player with the inclination to chop-return and place every serve, but my point conversion ratio for top-spun servers is low. This helps to hone my game.

Really helpful, thanks! Technically, is top spin same as 'kick serve' - one that really catches speed after bouncing on the opponent's side? Any technique suggested to handle that? Thanks again!
@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the kick serve, is a topspin serve. And you can treat all variants of topspin serves the same. As long as you read the spin correctly, topspin is just topspin, so you can return in the way I explain in the video.

Which type of spin is : when i return the ball , it goes down in the net instead of upping ? Thanks for all the good advices.

That is most probably backspin if ball goes down after contacting your bat.

If coming ball close to me, I choose BRUSH, if coming ball close to net and high, I choose HIT, if coming ball close to net and low, I choose brush it, if coming ball is very powerful and high speed ,you have to choose defense and BLOCK

Does it also depend on the quality of the paddles to return spin serves
@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Oddly, it is easier to return spin serves if you have a really cheap bat as it is less effected by incoming spin. But you can't generate much spin yourself. With better quality bats, you can generate more spin, but they will also be more responsive to incoming spin. The most important thing is developing good technique, then it doesn't matter too much what bat you use.

I have a question. What kind of practice can you do without having a table, let say at home that will help you in developing better reaction time or form in regard properly doing a front hand or back hand return?
@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
You could do shadow practice, where you practice playing strokes. You could also do some fitness work. But honestly the only way you will really improve is by doing it for real on a table with another player.

@@TomLodziak thanks. I am in the USA. Until resent I just found a place I can go as a walking. Not close to home but I will take the ride.

How about returning very fast topspins serves that are extremely low to the net? Same principal?
@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the same principal. If it's a topspin serve, it doesn't really matter how low it is, it will still bounce up from your rubber. You can return in the same way as shown in the video. If it's a very fast topspin serve, you really don't need to return with much power. Just keep your stroke short and the ball will still go back very fast.

What if the ball bounces at the end of table ? How should I tackle that. PS- I am a beginner
@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
If the ball bounces near the end of the table, you can still block, hit or topspin. If someone keeps doing long topspin serves, try standing a little further back from the table. This should make it easier to return the serves.
@PsyQoBoy5 жыл бұрын
@@TomLodziak So table tennis is not a stationary game. You have to adjust your positioning constantly unless you're really lazy. You should constantly move around and if you have enough space and stamina you should be able to hit every shot.
@prasenjitdebnath3925 жыл бұрын
Actual serve don't have such high bounce.. what to do if the ball is too low?
@TomLodziak5 жыл бұрын
Topspin serves often do sit up a little bit (because of the topspin). So if it is a topspin serve, follow the advice in this video and you will be able to return the ball.
@vathrosable3 жыл бұрын
I started watching this to get better at VR Eleven
@DmitryTumaykin3 жыл бұрын
This kind of advice only works at beginner level, when the server is not ready for slow topspin return. You either should attack it hard straight away, or chop it to make it nearly impossible to attack. When I do a short topspin serve, a slow topspin return like those shown in this video is what I'm already waiting for to hit twice harder, and into the corner. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJimc4Z3m6tjrZo This vid gives a better advice.
@yagzyalcntas553 Жыл бұрын
he literally gave the same advice with that video, the only difference is he gave an ADDITIONAL option for BEGINNERS. He already said this is for people who struggle to even land the ball on table, its a s"starting" point and you are like: "ACHHTUALLYY on higher levels it doesnt work, this video sucks.." bruhhhh ok we get it you are so good player bravo lol 😅

How to recognise that opponent is going to play top spin serve ?
@TomLodziak2 жыл бұрын
You need to watch your opponent's bat very closely. If you see the bat moving up when contacting the ball, it is likely to be a topspin serve.

@TomLodziak6 жыл бұрын
Could be any number of reasons. But just make sure you are brushing the ball rather than hitting the ball. This is what generates spin.
@kemalnaks13575 жыл бұрын
Yes here is a nice tips to retorn but don't forget the man serving esay one. So its esay to retorn. Try it with a diffucult serve :/

How to deal with an Anti rubber opponent🙄
@ucnhtmenow15 жыл бұрын
But in all reality, I doubt his serve would be that high. Not saying she still wouldn't be able to return it consistently but you should show a lower serve. I know guys that can't even smash with their forehand that would smash that serve lol.
@TomLodziak5 жыл бұрын
All topspin serves will pop up a bit, because of the topspin on the ball. And the topspin will jump ''up' off the bat. So the advice I give in this video will work on any type of topspin serve.
