It seems that I accidentally left a blank screen for about 20 seconds of the video. Whoops 😅

What I find much harder than reverse engineering, is actually applying your findings in a match. I may be able to tell easily what I should have done differently after the game, but I will never think about those things when I'm actually ingame. I can see the mistakes after, but I won't be able to remember that I know of this mistake already when I'm about to make it.

It sounds like you are focusing on preventing mistakes instead of building beneficial habits. If I'm correct in my guess, that likely causes your mind to end up in a jumbled mess because you are trying to entertain so many things at once which is extremely unrealistic. Maybe, once in a blue moon, you'll get a game where you can because you are ahead and the game is slow paced so you have time to think in advance but that's going to be very rare. You don't have all day to go through the mental checklist of what you want to avoid doing while playing League. For example, instead of trying to avoid doing "bad ganks", you could replace that with an actionable habit such as "look at where the incoming minion waves are before ganking". You probably won't have it down perfectly at the beginning. You'll remember and forget other times because you have to focus on other parts of the game but that's okay. Producing a positive outcome from doing it just once should be enough to excite you to do it more. Once you truly see value in a habit after gaining plenty of experience trying it out, it becomes much easier to do subconsciously.

To take the aatrox example, the main mistake here was just not being aware of fundamentals. Before rotating, push in the wave. If the wave is pushed in and you have a man-down on the objective, just take the recall. Aatrox just ignored the basic fundamental of pushing in the wave, which could be a focus point for your game. Push in the wave (if it is already slowpushing) before rotating or recalling. This is a good habit to drill.

@@AberrantDemon What a beast you are man. Such a good communication style. Started out with the "it sounds like" and everything. And the info is genuinely really helpful for me.

@@AberrantDemon Very good and detailed write-up, good analysis too, so thank you for that. My issue is indeed that I try to apply all knowledge at once, instead of building muscle-memory for it bit by bit, but I play so little Summoner's Rift due to lack of motivation for it, that I can't really build up habits and I don't like the idea of playing dumb for let's say 150 games until I have everything down to muscle memory, I want to build a habit out of all at once. I can't even get myself to only build 1 habit at a time, my mind refuses to just disregard the other things I need to practice.

My current vod review habit is to start from the beginning and put more time and attention on early mistakes. Is this roughly equivalent to what you are advocating for in the video, or am I misunderstanding?
