My guys just my 2 cents worth, after binge watching this channel for a while and reading the comments just got a few observations 1) 'it does not last' YES it does. most of the machinery they are working on is usually sent as scrap or towards the end of its life to Pakistan. From first hand experience I was in Pakistan when a friend imported a combined harvester from the UK to Pakistan to look at it you would have thought you cant even scrap it, the amount of rust holding it together, non running engine it was basically scrap. something here in the west we would have been condemned. What i witnessed outside a village house was nothing short of amazement. In the course of 2 weeks maybe 5 or 6 guys no I'm lying 3 guys 3 kids 15/16 year old stripped the engine and gear box basically rebuilt them sending parts out to machine shops like this to be repaired or remade. sheet metal work outside in a village, welding till late at night, all done with basic tools. They finished in 2 weeks drove it 500 miles and cut hectares of wheat with it, just after the summer cut hectares of rice with it. That was 2010 today in 2022 that big turd is still running and earning a crew money 2 seasons a year for the past 12 years. ( IT WAS A SCRAP ITEM SENT FROM THE UK !!!) 2)they poor they dirty the safety. Maybe some of the laborers are poor but Pakistan isn't built like the west no mortgages there these skilled people own there own houses paid for, i bet the business is family owned with family working no loans. Around family friends all day. who's poorer us with mortgages, car loans, leases, credit cards no time to see kids.... or these guys with no loans no headaches go to work with a smile on there face. Dirty these are machine shops, I've seen worse in the west. Safety the only rule is its got to be a leather slipper lol. People must get hurt every now and again but they do everywhere. I've got family in the medical field and some of the injuries that happen in the west with all the safety equipment well lets leave it there. 3) skill skill skill jaggard jaggard jaggard. shock and awe I've seen some things being repaired what we like to call bush fix in the west they call jaggard. fix anything any time any place. God forbidding there was a massive war we lost factories, electric internet..... id have more faith in these guys who can pick up scrap and make it work than western mechanics. and a last observation a bit of a philosophical one who has more freedom someone who can do what ever they want without some government body sticking there ore in every 2 minutes or does the lack of freedom made up by the 'safety it affords'. lol individual choice. But i for one say salute to you guys HATS OFF will always be amazed at the speed and precision you guys can work to without the proper tooling.

Damn outstanding! no one today in the US could or would do this.. 70 years ago it was done by a few farmers and older fellas.. But not today.. thanks.. this remind me of my grandfather out in the barn redoing the stator on one of the chicken feeding machines very fun memories.. carry on!

MrShowbar, they "might" be able to do it. But they're likely not younger than 60 years old and you'll probably have to sell one or more kidneys to pay for it. Us 'muricans can really be full of ourselves even if we possess minimal skills
@tinkmarshino2 жыл бұрын
@@areaeightythree2505 If any of us over 60 have kidneys worth selling.. at over 70 now I am still recovering from the 60's and 70's anyway and have no real brain cells left to tell these things.. But I still listen to my old rock from the 50's- 70's so something must still be jiggling up there.. ;-)

Great work . Very tedious work . That takes a high skill level or the armature will short . That's amazing how you installed the insulators to keep that from happening . Thank You for sharing your profession .

Hats off to keep old items from being scrapped, but even if it does someone else will build a business with that. Full circle of utilizing everything, I love it. Great ideas on handling mundane items here in the U.S.A. to extend the equipment’s usage when trying to fix when the warranty has run out owes me nothing. If it works, great! If not, I at least gave it a shot to try to beat the planned obsolescence, smirking.

We used to have people with those sort of skills in the UK. Sadly not any more. Successive governments have driven the UK towards a banking and service economy and losing skills ( and jobs ) like this along the way, causing the loss of many skills that will take a long time to return, if they ever do. Now, we have intelligent young people with no jobs, no hope or aspirations. I despair. People need meaningful jobs just for the self esteem and self respect aspect. You take that away from them, you get what we have now in the UK.

2:45 I think after such heat treatment, steel shafts and gear teeth lose their strength qualities and become softer metal - the process is reverse to hardening - steel tempering. This also applies to the copper collector after heat treatment, it becomes very soft, which is not good in this case. The repair technology should be reviewed to eliminate such negative factors as indicated above.
@tjebels2 жыл бұрын
The temperature was only high enough to melt the solder. Not high enough to do more than remove any work hardening from bending the copper and way too low to affect the steel at all.
