As someone who rode for over 10 years and is gonna be getting back into it after a few year hiatus i'll add this tip that I noticed went unmentioned in your video. Once you lock into your trick whether it be on a rail or a box, look at the end of the feature. This will help you focus on getting all the way to the end of it and you'll find it easier, with practice, to keep your balance to the end of the feature as well. If you are looking down at what's under you it's like looking down over a steep ledge, it's easier to lose your balance and it'll make you feel unsettled. Look for the end of the feature and use your sense of feel to help maintain your balance, practice makes perfect so keep repeating it over, and over, and over.

Solid vid guys. Tip to help improve your videos even further from one freestyle coach to (I assume?) another? Maybe go into a bit more detail on how you do what you're advising. You talk about using your heels and toes to help adjust on a rail, but don't say what to do with your heels and toes. To us it's obvious but to people watching the video for its intended purpose it won't be so obvious. Keep it up!:)

how likely is it that i’ll break my board on a rail?
@oz-1037
@oz-1037 3 жыл бұрын
@@Julia-jz1fy pretty unlikely. The worst I've done while boardsliding a kinked handrail I came off the opposite side and ran into the vertical support bar of the rail on the other side with my toe edge. It broke my edge n left a big dent where I hit the rail. To crack you're board in half on a board or lipslide though (if that's what you mean) would be really really difficult)

If you jump on you will probably gain speed. However, some rails can be icier then others and depending on the conditions you might slow down or speed up. If you follows these tips though and dont get scared about the faster speed you will be fine jumping and gain confidence as time goes on

Is it possible to catch on edge while riding a box? Should more weight be placed on one side of the board while sliding the box or can you clear it totally flat?
@rospumegaswag
@rospumegaswag 2 жыл бұрын
just ride it flat, only thing usually which tyou catch edge on a box is the snow, not the box. if the speed is too low you catch edges sometimes

Anybody have tips for dealing with the slow effect on boxes? I try to hit em with speed and the massive drag always gets me so close to falling over the front of my board.
@SnowboardProCamp
@SnowboardProCamp 5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, that could be either be the feature being sticky or your snowboard. Most of the features in Whistler slide very smoothly.

@@SnowboardProCamp I (was) riding at whitetail resort, Pennsylvania, using a Gilson Duel. I have heard some of the better snowboarders would never use that type of board but I don't see a reason why it would stick to a box. Probably just the box surface causing it.

@@Lolaroflwaffle if it's not wax or just the box you were on, then it would have to be the type of base that snowboard is running. Really no other things I can think of that should be hindering your slide.

what about sticky rails? Is there a good way to account for that when you first hit it?
@chaseheyman7426
@chaseheyman7426 2 жыл бұрын
Sticky rails can be annoying. A good way to account for that would be practice hitting the rail straight on (50-50) so you get a feel for the stickiness. Also you can rub some snow across the rails to make it less sticky.

My biggest head game fear is catching an edge on a box or feature, so I’ve never tried turning, just keeping as flat as possible. How likely is it to catch and fall on these things?
@ez_breezy7406
@ez_breezy7406 Жыл бұрын
Pretty likely if you shift your weight to the way you are sliding. I’ve heard of a lot of park riders “detuning” their boards. Basically they round out their edge on both sides of the board by filing it down so that the edge isn’t as sharp and is much less likely to dig into the features. Haven’t tried it yet personally but seems really smart if you’re mainly hitting park.
