@@BraveEndeavors Did you go OTB on purpose to demo wrong technique? Because if so, wow!
@BraveEndeavors
@BraveEndeavors 9 ай бұрын
@@RBrame-vh8oe It was on purpose. I was trying to demonstrate what happens if your weight is too high, and to exagerate it I hit the front brake. In all honesty I flipped over way faster than I anticipated! :/ Fortunately I was fine.

@@BraveEndeavors Thanks for the reply. Well, you're very courageous! Going OTB -- even at slow speed -- is pretty spooky for me. It did look like a 'skillful' fall, in the way you cleared the bike and laid out to absorb impact. Have you practiced safe OTB falls, in the way, say, beginning skateboarders are encouraged to do in order to safely manage wipeouts?

Informative vid, I learned all this by doing stairways. In my opinion it is the best way because they are consistent controlled environment. The practice part is trying to do them as slow as possible and also learn to stop midway on stairways. Find different gradience of steps to do. Make it a challenge, the one part she forgot to mention in this video is going behind your seat.

Yes 'feel' plays a large part in the vestibular system. The same system when you're flying down a trail, receiving feedback through your hands and your feet and sometimes your butt depending on whether you're standing or sitting. Feel is typically not something that is intuitive it is normally developed through repetitive practice and competition. It all ties in with stability - Mobility - maneuverability; kinematics

@BraveEndeavors
@BraveEndeavors Жыл бұрын
Hey Nicole, a little bit of both. I honestly did not want to crash - but I wanted to show what can happen if your hips are too far forwards. I went into the feature and intentionally shifted my weight too far forwards AND hit my front brake too much. I was hoping to float on my nose for a moment and come back down, but I went OTB much faster than I expected! Fortunately I was fine, and hopefully others can learn from my mistake:)

Great video! Do you use both brake on the roll down? My first time doing a very similar feature I went OTB cuz i used a bit too much front brake. Also for pressing down does that mean your weight is shifted backwards?
@BraveEndeavors
@BraveEndeavors 9 ай бұрын
Hey, on this particular section I am no braking on the rock itself. But it's OK to drag both your brakes to help maintain a consistent speed. If you are going to brake, use both your brakes:)

Thanks for the clear explaination! You say that when you roll your bike to try whether it is rollable, that when pedals and chain ring do not touch the ground you can roll it. But if you have a full suspension, the bottom bracket will be lower on the actial roll and maybe then it isn’t rollable? Or is this negligible due to the (even low) speed or something else? This is what makes me afraid and myind will make me a full stop.
@BraveEndeavors
@BraveEndeavors 5 ай бұрын
Hey Mark, that's a good question and good point, and you've answered your question:) You're correct that with a full suspension bike when the suspension compresses the bb could hit the rock. But, to your point, you'd need to be going at essentially a crawl for this to happen.:)

I’m wearing headphones, is there a slight high pitched whine in anyone else’s audio? My headphones could be messed cause usually there is ambient music in videos I watch. Or maybe the microphone your using? Sound aside I really enjoyed this tutorial 👍
