Thanks, your video was helpful and I gave you a " THUMBS UP." I have watched all of your videos and your are doing a great job. I have fished up there a few times and have done well with the help of your videos. One thing I would like to see is a video that showed me more of the areas you are fishing, the time of season, best boat ramp for the area your fishing and any other helpful hints. I travel over 600 mile to fish there so all the info I get helps. I have gone out with a guide and that also helped. THANKS AGAIN for your videos.

I’m from Ontario Canada. I was wondering why you don’t use down riggers. It’s a cleaner setup and no weight to fight
@nookiehookers88595 жыл бұрын
scott sommerville I tried down riggers but just never really liked them yes no weight to fight but I also try to keep my gear right on the bottom in a lot of up and down area! I seen too many people get the down rigger ball stuck and have a hard time getting it to release

could be a number of things causing that line tangle. I use a lot of bead chains and the lengths I have mentioned seem to work very well for me. the only time I get line tangle is when there is a lot of weeds
@rocketryan5908 жыл бұрын
If you let your line out to fast is the cause of a lot of tangles

great video man! At the end, you wrote "use different colors on sunny days compared to cloudy days". Can you give some basic guidelines on that? What colors are best in sunny vs cloudy?
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
So I like to use darker colors on darker days but super bright colors on bright sunny days, also if the water is super clear I like to use bright colors. I really like that short leader setup also. Any other ?s shoot them my way! Use different colors until you find what they like.

What size rod should I be using?
@nookiehookers88594 жыл бұрын
William Neylon I recommend a 10’6” either the okuma guide series or a lamiglas xcc kwik.

Hi Travis Great video. What brand of rod holders do you use? Do you have extensions added for more height? Was wondering if extra height helps accessing rods or? Thanks Dennis
@nookiehookers88596 жыл бұрын
dennis powell hey Dennis I use the Scotty brand I like the orcas quick release. When I sold my old boat everything went with it. I do use rod extensions to get them out and away from people bumping into them also easier to grab when they are a little higher up! Great question

Only single hooks aloud? Can I use a double snail setup?
@nookiehookers88595 жыл бұрын
Shokenryu you can run a double hook setup some of my setups are a treble hook on the very end.

How do you know how deep your dropper is sitting? As your trolling and the depth changes what do you do?
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
line counter if you hit the bottom at 100 ft bring it up 5ft on the counter or 10 or 15 ft i offset my setups to different depths to locate fish

I throw brads cut plugs from bank. I catch 1 once in a great while witch is fine for me. If I remove the 30lb stiff leader and use 20lb leader will it work better ?
@nookiehookers88597 жыл бұрын
Tronn Space I'm not sure about it working better with less stuff leader! Have you tried spin and glow with eggs or prawn for salmon off the bank I have never heard anyone usin a brass off the bank

Great video. Very Helpful. What reel do you use? Ive been looking for a left handed retrieve with a line counter like you have one one (maybe both) rod. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for your reply, I just recently started trolling and in doing research I’ve heard different speeds for different lures? I’ve caught a ton of salmon by jigging but I surely appreciate your input, keep up with the great advice and videos

just wanted to say thanks for the videos real helpful for that I'm just getting into salmon fishing in tri cities..quick question how deep are you fishing around the pasco area plan on going out this weekrnd?
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
Hey bro your welcome fishing is awesome and I like to show people how to do it especially when you live on the reach where salmon fishing can be unbelievable! You really need to try different depths. I was running rods at 35 40 and 45 ft the even deeper! You need to find the fish on a good fish finder! I'm running the humminbird 958 hddi combo and I can mark fish very easily! Sometimes they are right on the bottom but be careful cause you can loose gear in rocky areas! Good luck and tight lines out there!
@mariaroman99338 жыл бұрын
+Nookie Hookers Fishing forsure man..just bought this little 13ft aluminum boat with a 9.9 never been but out but I just got all this gear and a cheaper fish finder..lol we'll see how it goes

how would you recommend fishing the mouth of the Yakima right now.
@thatdamguy008 жыл бұрын
Great video man, what stretch of river is that? Also were you using your kicker to move you up river and your Minnkota to steer and speed you up or down?
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
This is what we call the 300 area it's just up from selph landing or at the north end of Richland where Hanford site starts. And yes I use the kicker for motion and I use my minnkota for steering. I do the same thing back trolling eggs at ring old minnkota I always use for steering.
@thatdamguy008 жыл бұрын
Great thinking, I am going to try that neat trick this weekend. Thanks for the reply and tight lines.

Do you want the weight bouncing off the bottom or once the weight touches bottom real up a couple feet? Thanks
@nookiehookers88597 жыл бұрын
eric jensen hit bottom bring it up a couple feet Do not drag it you will loose all your gear
@Fishing857 жыл бұрын
Nookie Hookers thanks this setup is really becoming popular in the California delta. I normally use quick fish but with all the guides switching to the cut plug and having good success I want to try it.

we are using the same rig setup that you just made and we went salmon fishing three times once at ringold and twice the mouth of Yakima and fished all day long and not a single or anything so what is it that Chinook salmon aren't biting
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
Same for us fishing has been slow but there is a lot more fish showing up also the water flow has a lot to deal with the bite also no flow and the bite is off! I have heard of people picking fish up at Bateman island

Is the remote on your neck for the trolling motor? What setup is that?
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
It's the Minn Kota power drive v2 with auto pilot And yes the remit on my beck is to control it it has a ton of really cool features such as anchor and record a troll
@nanddm988 жыл бұрын
Nice. I have a Motorguide with foot controls but didn't figure it would be strong enough for the river.  Will it push you upriver also? I have a 16.5 ft Lowe with the R3 45.

Do you ever have issues with line twist when using the agitator flasher? I seem to get line twist a lot. My cannon ball, flasher and superbait will end up all tangled up. Any suggestions. When I use the big bus flashers, I do not end up with line twist.
@brandonkorpi96538 жыл бұрын
cut your stock swivels off you Pro-Chips and use the big duolocks with a 6 bead chain swivel or P-Line 5 bead #1 treble on both sides of flasher. Helps a lot. Works for inlines and dodgers as well.

@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
No never tried can you explain
@brandonkorpi96538 жыл бұрын
seen it on TJ's boat so figured it was a Reach thing. Not sure if he has a jig or not, but he drills a 7/32 bit through the outlet hole straight through, then runs leader through that instead of middle inlet hole that comes stock. Shoot, I hope I'm not giving out secrets...oops.

how would you recommend fishing the mouth of the Yakima right now.
@nookiehookers88598 жыл бұрын
For sockeye I would try to hover or slowly move up river .2 to .4 mph dropper about 10 oz and a cha cha by macks lures tipped with shrimp. For Kings the same as I showed in the video down river flasher and super bait although Kings will hit on sockeye setups I have caught them.
