Thanks! I live in the Sierra Foothills so I’m primarily a freshwater Sailyak fisherman, I’m looking forward to trying these rigging methods when I venture out to the central coast.

is this video for southern cal as well? ive been looking for rigging videos for lingcod and rockfish but none were helpful. You should make another video about how to fish them as well, but good video. very informational

For bocaccio & vermillion (cover pic), whenever we fish a wreck I always catch these on the following: I make a 60 lb double dropper loop rig with mono about 6 ft long & hang a 10 or 12 oz torpedo wt on it to beat everyone else to bottom. To the dropper loops I attach two pink coneheads (Pink, not red, not clear, not orange) to those I attach the head only of a frozen squid which I hook directly between the eyes so it hangs naturally below the conehead & snugs up to it. This always loads up the bocaccio & vermillion maybe because of same color? - No idea, just guessing. 2nd rig that gets hammered by them (& lingcod even though they are very sm jigs) are the gold/chrome spro brand jigs in 1/2 oz & 3/4 oz. The 1/2 oz get way more hits but a decent ling will bend that hook so either light light drag or up it to 3/4 oz which has a thicker hook. Tried a beefy 2 oz but it got very little interest. Also on same double dropper rig w/ these & add a squid head. These are really bright & have a ton of movement (& scent) which is why I think they do so well. These are both lures that produce for me almost every time. They are $5-6 each so $10 -12 per rig if you double em up which I recommend over a single with a teaser fly because for some reason the pair seems to make the fish strike much more aggressively. I have hundreds & hundreds in expensive, elaborate jigs of all the major brands but these are my favorites & really produce. With this yr starting at 300' & deeper 2023 (San Francisco zone, (Sonoma coast for me)) it should be interesting to see what works from May to July 15th. After that all depths open. Hope some find value in this info. Prep now May will be here b4 you know it.

Interesting... Im moving to San Diego soon and have like no Saltwater experience. What colors are popular for the Lings, Rockfish, and Sheepshead out there? I make my own swimbaits so Im very interested! Thanks for the video!

I come from a Largemouth and smallmouth backround. I know times of year, colors, size and action. I'm starting to understand size and action but what colors are best? Like time of year etc. I actually have the same swimbait in that color and the red and white.

Great Videos....how do you get your line from the dropped loop the fit though the eye of the hook. What size mono are you using. My mono must be to larger, I struggle getting the doubled up loop though the bead and the eye.

is it advantageous to use the name brands like big hammer and b2? or will similar plastics before just as well?
@CckfNet2 жыл бұрын
Yes can use your favorite swimbait for sure. Tons of different makes some have different action then others. I’ve found the big hammers tail kids with very little movement or current.

Awesome! Btw awesome channel man. I went to college at CP and have been diving/fishing the coastline for the last 20 years... I’m glad the knowledge is still being spread despite all of the outdoors stores shutting down.

Great video!! With that first swimbait is there a way to get a larger jighead and hook in? That one seems small, is there a reason for that? Is small better?? Can't wait to check out more very informative.
@CckfNet6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I frequently use 4oz that has a much larger hook and the 6oz as well when fishing deep and the hook comes out much further back. A lot of the strikes are head strikes. Do not notice any more short strikes regardless of the hooks however.

Great job Ryan! Always enjoy your vids. Question, which size B2Squid are you using - mini, 3" or 5" bodies, etc. At the web site I'm not certain when they say "3" body", it is just the body and not body and tentacles. Thanks. PS - Looking forward to the 2018 Slam Down!!!!
