i found the rollerblading subreddit a year or two ago when i was just getting back into blading, and someone linked this video to help with rotating wheels. i didn't even know that was a thing! thank you for making the explanation so simple! i can already tell my skates are going to be much better as i get back into it :))

thank you so much! this really helped me out, I'm trying to learn how to care for my skates and this video is exactly what I've been looking for.

--A-- L1 x R3 L2 x R4 L3 x R1 L4 x R2 --> With --> --B-- L1 -> R2 R2 -> L3 L3 -> R4 R4 -> L1 R1 -> L2 L2 -> R3 R3 -> L4 L4 -> R1 To optimize the wear of my wheels, I alternate this technique with another. it works very well on all rockered setups. I'm not flipping all the wheels, either, just the ones that need them. I make sure that the worn part is always facing the outside of the feet. Otherwise, for the maniacs, there is the calipers. o7 Edit: Oops, forgot to say thank you for the video. 😋

Thanks, I was wondering how to rotate a rocker, as the middle wheels wear more quickly.

How frequently do you do this? Ever season, every other quarter, or some other suggested schedule? I know it’s all subjective but any general thoughts?
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you should rotate everytime you skate. Personally I try to rotate my wheels every third skate. This keeps them wearing nice and even.

I've read that you rotate your wheels every 1-3 skates and that you may skate for 1 1/2 hours. How far do you go in that time. I'm keeping track of my distance traveled and trying to figure out how often to rotate based on that. Thanks!

Wheel 1 will be always on first or third position. Wouldn't be better to advance them just one spot?
@Jojopeepee2 жыл бұрын
I did this process and my 3rd wheel on each side (which was originally the 1st wheel) is so worn down it dosnt make contact with the ground. Should I replace all the wheels, just that one, or just ride till the other wheels wear down to that wheel?
@whittyskater2 жыл бұрын
Use until they all wear down
@Lee-qs2ib3 жыл бұрын
Also, how would I know when it's time to rotate my wheels?
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
Ideally rotate them after every skate. Or at least every 3 skates. You can tell the wheels are worn as one side will look a little flatter. You'll learn how they look with experience so don't worry.

Quick question, the worn side needs to go on the 'outside' of the skate right? How often do you rotate after the first time? Thank you!
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
If your inside edges are worn then yes swap them to become outside edges. Ideally swap your wheels everytime you skate. I understand that can be a pain but I swap mine at least every third skate. This keeps the wheels pretty even

Thanks for the video. I was just wondering how often do you need to do this? Also, it seems that the second time you do this rotation, the wheels go back to their original spots. Is there a way (is it even necessary) for the the wheels to rotate through every position on each skate and each side?
@whittyskater3 жыл бұрын
In an ideal world I would rotate every time you skate but in the real world I'd suggest at least every 3 skates. Rotating like in this video is sufficient I believe but you can of course do extra rotations if you want
@piperna57864 жыл бұрын
What if I want to encourage a natural rocker instead?
@matthewda934 жыл бұрын
You can rotate your wheels in place, or do what I do and swap L1 with R4, R1 with L4, L2 with R3, L3 with R2. That will help to avoid uneven wheel wear, while keeping the outer wheels on the outside, and the inner wheels on the inside to develop a natural rocker.

Good video👍👍 but in my case never will work your method, it always deppends on how you brake - T stop or tricks (Slides,Drags) so I have to look up and see which one is more worn, I do T stop with my left foot, most with the front wheel so I have to figure out... You will ask why I am saying this, we are a big rollerblading group and most of them ands with the wheels seems like CONE, because the saw tutorials... So i guess if you have more suggestions on how to swap the wheels will be appreciated 💖
