Run your optical through your TV, watch GT Canada he shows how to unlock 4k120fps with Astro A40 A50, I have ps5 and my Astros are working perfectly on optical through TV and I know the Xbox does too

Astro lied the converter can't do 1440 at 120 it's really frustrating

The adapter cannot support HDMI 4k 120hz to Display port 4k 120hz. It is impossible. You have to wait for monitors to support it.

Funny enough the product was made for ps5. On my series x i can get 1080 p 120hz using the adapter, but on ps5 it caps me to 60 hz

not sure if its my setup but currently on my series s im able to get 1440p 120hz using the astro adapter. i have my xbox hdmi running into my capture card the el gato 4k60 pro mk.2. then the capture card into the astro adapter. my monitor is an msi 1440 240hz and it works with no problem some monitors you do have to update thru your computer.

@@frandetrovi47 thanks for the sub 🙏 without the converter I play my xsx 1440p @ 120hz. I have tested the HDMI cable included with the converter and I can use it to play 1440p @ 120hz. It's only when I connect the converter that I cannot play at my desired settings. Oh well

Does it allow variable refresh rate ? That's the big issue for most ppl. Most ppl are happy with 120hz 1080p it's the fact that there aren't any adaptors that VRR

@@cryptok9185 tough question. Depends how you game. If you're a sweat that plays first person shooters, you don't need the monthly Dolby subscription. Windows Sonic or Dolby digital will be enough. If you use you console to watch movies, or play solo player games a lot and you want a more immersive experience then go for it 👍🏽

Not 100% sure trying to do research now but I'm looking at if these converters or optimized to intake the information from HDMI 2.1 cables and if the converter itself can run 1440p 144hz. I feel like that is the only issue that could be happening unless one of the HDMI cords you are using doesn't support 1440p 144hz.

Trust me I hope you find the solution but I drove myself crazy 😂 double checked I was using the right HDMI port on my monitor, triple checked all cables were capable of 1440p @ 144hz, I tried 2 different converters, reset my Xbox over and over... I check Amazon from time to time to see if anyone sells them 🤞

The pro to using this converter is premium sound. The only con is going to be MORE CABLES 😒 lol worth it imo especially if you can still game at 120fps

Not sure if I'm understanding your question, but you need your TV or monitor to be rated @ 120hz or higher AND for your console (and game) to be capable of outputting 120fps. In this case, the PS5 is capable but your TV is not.

@@deadlyvader6611 I'm not familiar with PS5, but does it have a video test function that will tell you your TV or monitor performance capabilities? For instance, under Xbox video settings I can open a menu that tells me if my setup is 120fps capable, 4k capable, etc.

When I used the converter I would use bitstream out. Since this video, I started using just the USB cable and now I use windows Sonic. It gets the job done with less cables.

PS5 now runs 1440P @ 120hz, I can confirm that’s what I play MW2 at. PS5 had an update that allows 1440 @120hz.

I'm running the same thing too. I was surprised to see that when I installed tbe adapter. I tried bumping it up to 4k but it won't lol. But 1440p is super smooth and nice so, I'm just glad I could run at 120hz.
