mahalos for the wonderful graphics and video . i was wondering about audio feedback when using a different sound board not so enabled for zoom as yours seems to be . it maybe safer to take audio from the camera shooting and then cut to the zoom with the sound from that computer whilst definitely shutting off the sound from all other sources . mahalo again
@digitalministrymasterclass94212 жыл бұрын
Cheers! That's definitely a work around if you don't have an audio mixer with a mix minus. It all just depends on the scale of your audio needs.
@APECEpic2 жыл бұрын
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 this video and the graphics really helped to establish some basic foundations with regards to how we should set up; with of course the caveat of no zoom board . when we actually did the livestream i did get to delay the sound coming into the mix of hte cameras about 3/29.97 frames per second; about one tenth of a second with the ATEMmini extreme . this allowed for the hdmi camera delay of pic and audio . when zoom came into the stream picture i had no computer to take pic or audio from unfortunately . my friend then aimed the camera at the screen and we output the sound from the computer running the zoom directly to the sound system . it worked even with the mics on that same system going live, like a normal conversation on zoom . they had back and forths . i think this could be done sending the zooms picture and audio to the ATEM however we might have had to set up in the way stated previous or possibly have an awkward delay of 6 frames . not sure about that tho . in any case mahalos so much
@APECEpic2 жыл бұрын
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 oh yes one more caveat . i think with some streaming services they can stream your output from the ATEM straight to zoom without the picture needing to go to the computer as a source then to zoom networks from that computer by adding zoom as a destination somehow on hte ATEM . this could make less of a delay potentially and sync the two up ..... maybe

@digitalministrymasterclass94212 жыл бұрын
Thanks Flasch. I'm glad the video was helpful to you. The USB-C can only output the 'program'. It can't independantly 'preview' seperate sources like the HDMI output can. In otherwords, it can only see the final show. This can be an issue in some edge cases. I mention it in the limitations section of using it to feed the ZOOM chat, you can create a video feedback loop if you cut to them on full screen. You can't just keep one camera angle for them the whole time as they are seeing the final output, cuts and all. If you want that ability, you could instead feed a computer with one of the HDMI outputs and use a cheap USB HDMI capture card to plug it into the computer. Or use a HDMI splitter. Let me know if that answers your question :)

Hi, I like this setup and want to test this next time, using two Mini's since I dont have the Extreme. But I can't see how the sound from the laptop running the presentation (it could be a video with sound), will get through to Zoom since all sounds is taken from the mixer. Any Idea how to achieve that?
@digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
Good question. You'd want to plug the Presentation Laptop's audio output into the mixer. So the mixer is still controlling all the audio. That way you can pass laptop Audio to Zoom and the in-room amplification. I tried to think of a way to do it via the Laptop passing Audio to the ATEM via HDMI, but to avoid feedback that's more trouble than it's worth. The laptop should easily be able to route video via one cord, and sound through another. You may need a small audio interface, or just an adapter to change the 3.5mm audio jack to XLR or 6.35mm jack
@intraportas83963 жыл бұрын
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 Thank you for the answer! Yes, that's probably the safe way around this. I did however make a test using the Sound Control Panel in Windows 10. In the "Recording" tab and "Properties" there is a "Listen" tab. I checked the checkbox called "Listen to this device" after selecting the USB from the Atem. This actually routed the sound from the Atem to the headphone output. I can't say this is a good solution yet, so I will have to test this more later on.

Nice Video! I am currently building the same setup using VDO Ninja for the remote speakers. Do you have experience in routing multiple speakers from one Session to separate Video Outputs of a computer to have them on separate channels of the ATEM mini?
@digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
If VDO Ninja can output multiple video feeds, then it would be possible... but I have a feeling it can't. Usually, I switch the remote speaker on the PC and not on the ATEM. If you need to switch them on the ATEM then usually people set up multiple cheap laptops for each speaker so each one has a Video output. There may be a software solution but I haven't come across it. Let me know if you find a solution!
@digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
@R. Kämper I know that feeling! The perfect Niche solution but it's only on mac or pc. Hmmm... I'm theorizing here... but you could use Skype. Create an NDI for each speaker, then use Newtek NDI Video monitor to create a window for each speaker (there is a trick to open multiple windows however, there are tutorials online), route those to a separate SDI output each. There are pros and cons to that solution, but hopefully, it might help!

Hi, what do you think about the other competitors to the audio board like the rodecaster pro which has deesser and compressions. Can the small board also power large speakers and not have feedback into the mics again?
@digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
If you check out my last video on building a small church studio, we recommended the Rodecaster for that set-up (use the timecodes to skip to the end). The Rodecaster is awesome, but it's more narrowed to capturing content (podcasts). It only has two balanced 1/4ich outputs for connecting a pair of stereo speakers. So if you use that for speakers, then you can't use it to feed into the ATEM and vice versa. You could get another audio interface with more outputs, but that's an additional cost and piece of gear. It may be worth it for some. The L-8 can feed XLR into large speakers (I imagine they have their own power), feedback then is more about the positioning of the microphones away or behind the speakers and having a cardioid microphone that only picks up whoever is using it and not the who room (like the one in the thumbnail).

Hi @CelloDan, it could be a few things. You can turn on HD quality sharing within zoom for video. Within Share Screen advanced you can change make sure the frame rate limit is unchecked. @digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that! What are you using for your audio mixer? Where is the feedback happening? If it's a feedback issue, I'd suggest drawing a diagram of your system to try and spot what is causing the feedback loop. Draw every input/output audio source on both the Atem and your audio mixer. It could be in the mix-minus routing, could be in the speaker/microphone placement. It shouldn't be a cable issue. It's a TRRS cable. Make sure the Atem audio inputs are set to Line In rather than Mic In if you are sending line-level audio from your mixer.

Great video, thanks for making it. Quick question, how are you allowing users online to advance power points if it is only local to you? If a remote participant shared it via zoom are you using a NDI capability to bring it into your ATEM mixer?
@digitalministrymasterclass94213 жыл бұрын
Great question. This set-up was designed around always having the primary speaker in the studio, secondary speakers could be on Zoom. If I was bringing in a remote speaker with a presentation and all they had was a laptop, I don't know if Zoom's new NDI features are advanced enough to have the full control I'd want. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) But I would be trying to get their full video feed, and a full presentation capture separately to feed into the Atem. This may require an additional laptop or 2 to feed into the Atem. (This is where a digital mixer like OBS would make this job easier, but the drawback is working across multiple switchers). There are simpler ways, but if you want to control everything on the in-room screens and online spaces it takes a few more elements. Worth the effort to avoid the basic screen share though!
@srbh414133 жыл бұрын
@@digitalministrymasterclass9421 Thank you for putting so much thought and effort into this. Regarding NDI out from Zoom, the first caveat is that it’s only available from the higher cost Zoom Rooms. That being the case, I haven’t personally used it, but the standard for NDI out is for the currently shared screen to be an independent source. As different participants share their screens, the NDI just shows whichever is live. I experience this in Teams, for example.
