I found it hit my lungs way more increasing my cadence, shortening my stride and trying to run like this... After a few attempts I managed a 5k on the trail with 100% in range cadence and still hit my average time. Hip flexors felt a bit tight. So I'm gonna say it does need time and practice based on my experience.

Nope. You can't push down without first pulling up. And when your first foot hits the ground and sends shockwaves up your spine, you know why walking is better.

You don't need to run to lose weight. It's really bad for your knees, and joints. Walking and lifting is much better.
@tanaminogarashi3 ай бұрын
@@rmobnation9395 diet might be the most important factor. i'd personally recommend low carb and cutting out processed foods and refined grains (except for the occasional treat). i'd also recommend intermittent fasting instead of breakfast-lunch-dinner. most sports will require running of some kind, i think as long as you stretch and do mobility exercises, and don't do too much at a time, it should be fine

focusing on pushing down and with more force makes you so much faster. its a game changee
@VRietySociety7 ай бұрын
actually... there is a little more nuance to this, when you run faster you feel more and more force being applied into the ground buts its actually come primarily from how fast your legs are moving, how quickly your muscles can generate force and knee drive....yep knee drive. it's quite ironically reduces your force output slightly and speed a little when reducing knee drive but I would argue makes you more efficient for longer runs. check out Fredrik Zillén - Running Technique Specialist. He has a video debunking exactly that. It was done with 3d cam setups an sensors and explains why that is the case in detail. Knee drive is more important to create force but it will increase the impact on your joints so knee drive is great for sprinters but not for long distance runners in my opinion

That’s a good tip, although I tried running by just lifting my knees high and it feels weird. Perhaps for running in place or jump rope one could do this? It feels more natural to just push off the ground with each foot, like you are showing. Like if you were to hop on one leg, you would focus on pushing up rather than pulling up. Each leg pushes you forward, like if you were to hopscotch. Maybe that’s the way I’ve always been doing it because it felt right. But in any event, I probably should do some more running overall. Thank you for your video. This same principle could work for push-ups; think of pushing yourself away from the floor rather than just lifting your body. Same with an overhead kettlebell press, push yourself away from the bell rather than just lifting it. For pull ups, focus on pulling your elbows down with your lats, and it will propel your body over the bar versus just trying to lift your body over the bar. I’m sure this is some sort of biomechanical principle, or “for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction ?”
