I’m 63 and could never jump 7 metre but I could run 38 min 10km and what makes me happy like you is that I’ve maintained a fairly good sport performance for my age! I feel 40! I look 62 in the face unfortunately!

I’ve never been much of a runner but my 2023 goal is to get more active and fit. I signed up for a 5k marathon in July to challenge myself and this video is really helpful for me trying to figure out training. I’m not going for a win, just to complete it! Edit: I found another local marathon with a 5k option and signed up!

@dcdno_one2393 Жыл бұрын
@@RivalGem53 I find racing the 5km is very challenging. Completing it is totally feasible. When I race a 5km it expends everything - way more than something like a half marathon. To keep even splits at slightly beyond lactate threshold for 17-18 minutes is rough for me.

Training appropriate for professional athletes is not always appropriate for amateurs. Stretching before running, as Chari demonstrated in her warm-up, is a mistake for you and could result in injury. Chari is a pro she can do it. You do not. Her job is sports, you spend a lot of hours in the office. You run for health, she runs for sports results. She has a correct and strong muscle base that maintains her posture. You do not have. Correct order for non-professionals runners: - rolling - slow run - warm-up (without stretching elements) - main training (e.g. running or intervals) - rolling and stretching as the end of the training Regards Chari and thank you for all your videos.

The ritual and the routine seems to be a key. You can use this same approach in all areas of life. I appreciate how you start slow and even walk the track first, makes so much sense to prep the mind for the upcoming training. I am not running, but I apply Dior same approach to my own routine and the organization of the process has helped a lot.

Good videos! 78 second laps are no jog, that is 5:13/mile pace. 3:15/km. But hey, maybe if you can run 400m in 52 seconds, 78 is 50% slower so you could call it a jog :D

I question doing much stretching before muscles have been warmed up. What works for be is a 10 minute sauna where I use massage oil to prepare them for an activity like running or cycling. Then I go out slow for 10-15 minutes, stop and stretch more deeply.

For the leg swings I prefer to bend my knee when rising my leg in front of me and keep slow the movement behind me with the leg straight again. I do so to prevent the blood to be rushed into the calf and make it expand early in my session (especially during hot weather). Good warm up 👌

A 78 second 400 warmup jog?! I get running that pace to get your body moving faster after you've done some slow warm-up jogging, but if people (especially anyone a little older) are going to try and do this cold after only a walking lap I really worry that they're gonna get hurt. Otherwise, great video, and thanks for sharing!
