Today I have committed to go out running with a friend. I haven’t ran in ages and miss is so much, I miss the quality of my sleep when I run. Working at a desk all day fatigues the mind and a good run in the fresh air rejuvenates it. Can’t wait for my run tonight, it will be a slow 5kish!

One piece of advice here I have found to be so true is to run in different locations. Over the years, the streets out my door have become so much harder to run on than the streets somewhere else.

Hi I newly discovered this video and found straight away this was the one I needed. I am a 14 year old cross country runner that is determined to go far in my teenage years of running. My 5km time is 19:40 minutes and my 3km time (my distance I do for cross country) is a little bit under 12 minutes.. I get all worked up and stressed before I do my run (I try to do a run every night) and I feel like I’m too slow and I’m not good enough. I don’t want to be slow and I try to beat my PB everytime otherwise I’ll be hard on myself. I would appreciate if you read this. Thank you

One thing I did the year, for the first time, was set monthly goals. This meant that even when my marathon event was done I had something to aim for, a reason to keep running. I've got 10km to go this month to hit them all. Then I'll get some new kit for Christmas which will kickstart next year for me. I'll also have monthly goals next year too, as well as an event or 2

back running after having a 12 month break. wish i hadnt left it so long as its been quite tough getting back into the swing of things. have started to vary my runs & when im not completely feeling it, i go for a slow run with easy effort which is a bit more appealing & enjoyable than having to put in a hard session

I definitely lost my mojo after my second marathon and virtually stopped running altogether. At 62, that was a very bad mistake cause even though I've been back at it for more then a year, I wonder whether I'll ever be where I was cause of the missed time and the years catching up with me.

Great advice and thank you. I really didn't want to run today, very tired and unmotivated. However, I just geared up, jumped in the car and drove to a trail I hadn't run for a year or so. This is a beautiful trail and my intention was to just do it, whether I walked some or not. I did it - it hurt (haven't run much for a few months now) but it was very satisfying. You guys keep me motivated to keep going! Cheers and thanks from Sydney - Dave

I find setting the alarm early and getting out straight away helps maintain motivation. The later I leave it in the day, the more likely I am to not run. Coming back from injury is harder the older I get. I am now in a myzone group and find that it is very helpful, but beware being tempted to overtrain in the drive to rack up more MEPs!

@@hairyairey my doctor said it's inflammation of the plantar fasia ligament. Can be caused by excessive walking or running. I was shocked I didn't think there was such a thing as excessive running. If you have it go see your doctor. Dont put it off, mine got to a stage. When I got out of bed it was painful to stand up. He gave me some stretch excercises to do. If that hadn't worked the next step was a cortisone injection.

100% go for it. I joined a club the other week and there are different sessions each day. Sunday club runs break into 3 groups, from 9 minute miles to 15 minute miles and we never leave anyone behind. Typically even in the faster group we'll pause every 1-2 km or so just to let people regroup. It really helped me learn to slow down and run at a conversational pace.
@weekendkicks5964
@weekendkicks5964 2 жыл бұрын
Clubs cater for all and IME, most members are there for the social and don’t care about pace. Groups are usually split by pace p/m to avoid the situation you’re talking about, but regardless will always go at the pace of the slowest with zero complaint. Feels like a team with loads of encouragement.
