Once upon a time, I was a very active and avid archery hunter. At a half century of age I discovered a passion for tree work and tree climbing. The hunting world need's my help. I need to invent some devices for other avid archery hunters. It can be easier, more fun and just safer from jump street to back at home in bed kind of safety. To many die in hunting accidents. I believe if avid archer's and avid arborist came together and created a community of safety ideas. It would result in a smaller number of injury and death. Most Arborist are very creative when it comes to their safety. Thanks for sharing. Very cool content. Never heard of a climbing stick🤔😁

35 years ago that process would have been for me. Now at 61 I will stick to using three or four sticks as required. If I would have known about your items a few years ago I could have refined my system at a much low cost. Appreciate what you do for the saddle hunter. Keep them coming.

How is your tether attached to your rappel rope?
@hangfreeco
@hangfreeco 7 ай бұрын
@hangfreeco 0 seconds ago Hey Katie, with the way this method is being done, the Tether is the Rappel Rope. When desired height is reached the rest of the rope goes back into the bag on his hip.

I'm new to one sticking and have a Grigri....will I need a autoblock or is the Grigri my autoblock?
@hangfreeco

You have to do your own research on this one. We aren’t familiar enough with the gri gri to confidently answer this question. We apologize for not having enough knowledge about that particular piece of hardware and will familiarize ourselves with it for the future.

Gri Gri' are nice. It's all a climber needs for ascending and descending a rope safely. I use them all the time to make myself convenient to rescue and lower from the base of a tree. Just incase I have an accident and not able to help myself😎

I’d make people aware that if your climbing on any type of prussik and you drop your stick that you need to have a way to either tie a foot loop or something to get pressure off the prussik or I’d think you’d have to cut yourself loose. Just a thought.

I learned that the hard way 😂😂 cutting the prussik at 10 feet up was exciting, to say the least. 😅

Suggest you check out DIY Sportsman for a safer and easier way to one stick

Other than the linesman belt, which we addressed both on video, and in other comments, what would you suggest to be safer? If you are going to mention the Figure 8, check out our other replies to comments addressing that. Thanks for watching and have a great day.

They are so easy to use I hunt a summit viper with my 7 year old and I set in a saddle behind him when we’re done He rappel’s down using his safety harness and the rappel rope attached to the shooting rail then I climb down in the climber it’s pretty slick!

We have seen those and love the look of them. The reason we chose to use the figure 8 belay devices is because even though it takes a little more practice and work, it effectively does the same job and is much more cost efficient which allows the kits to be at a price point that allows almost anyone to get in to one sticking and saddle hunting. When it is all said and done, we want everyone to start and love saddle hunting. We may look in to stocking the Madrock in the future though. Thank you for the suggestion!

Not using a lineman's rope when introducing slack is a red flag. Probably want to encourage people to learn how to one stick with as much redundancy as possible.
@hangfreeco

Yeah unfortunately to get to the point of shooting this video we were already dog tired and weren't going to go back home. Yes, a lineman's is very important and should be used at all times. Unfortunately, in this circumstance we didn't.

Always use a lineman's belt. In this case we forgot one as we were trying to use an extra free hour we had from building customers orders to shoot this video. Of course we would have liked to have a lineman's belt but the decision came down to either shoot the video without it or dont shoot it at all. So, we chose to shoot it.

"It not high enough to get hurt" 4' is all it takes for you to be able to flip and land on your head. Your stick was a good 6' high, plenty high enough to break your kneck. I don't want people hurt due to ignorance or complacency. I climbed for years without safety gear till I had to get a bunch of safety training for work. Watching videos of people break their kneck falling from 4-6' will make you a little more careful.

Climbing without a safety belt is 100% NOT recommended obviously. We take all of the necessary precautions when hunting. In this case we had walked farther than you can imagine in the Florida heat and realized wed forgotten the Lineman's Belt. Due to time restrictions and the fact it was blazing out, we decided to shoot the video anyway. You are correct in everything you said though!
