Exceptionally good video. I agree with other comments it would make a really good training video. On the other side you can see why dressed crabs are so expensive,with all the work what goes into dressing a crab. Thank you.

Thanks for another great video. Thats a crab masterclass. Now I fancy a crab for breakfast lol. I tried fishing with one of them crab snares off the beach before but it never caught me a crab. Worth a go though.

I found out that fresh cooked crab is easier to shell than cooked and kept in the fridge, I used to dive for crabs and lobster in the UK in the 1980s I could pick the bigger shell fish, I only took a few for myself, usually in very remote parts in the North of UK. I prefer Scallop / Queenies and Crab in that order. Th biggest crab I took needed two hands to pick up.
@beanysfishing25558 ай бұрын
Yes, it does pick easier. All the big crabs here are sloppy inside, they dont grow huge like the north and south crabs, thats why our size limit is smaller
@jdhtyler8 ай бұрын
@@beanysfishing2555 A few occasions the crab I was dressing was due to change its shell so the quality and volume was poor for a large crab. Lobsters are inquisitive; On a diving trip to Saltburn-by-the-sea in the uk there were some reefs and my buddy was a head of me in the valleys and I swam over the top as a short cut and the Lobsters had come out to see who was swimming in the reef valleys below them and all I had to do was swim behind them and pick a few up, much easier than using a hook.

I caught 3 spiders in a drop net the other day, they were about the size of my hand. Is it worth using the legs and is there any body meat?
@beanysfishing25558 ай бұрын
I’ve never dressed a spider crab. I believe most of the meat is in the legs, and under the main shell is quite intricate to pick, but can be done

I was 10y in 1972 (my aqualung was a Whitbread CO2 cylinder converted to a diving tank 1000 psi working pressure, it floated.) and caught a big Spider Crab in Ladram bay UK, we looked at it and decided that the caravan cooker was not big enough so I put it back in the sea, it was only out of the sea for an hour..
