I can see you're really good with handling and caring for your cute dwarf bunny, they really are very loving. Netherland Dwarf bunnies tend to like large amounts of space even though they are tiny. Free roaming is best if the house is rabbit proofed, the bunny is monitored initially and a bit of training is done. If not, a 5 x 3 x 2/3 C&C cage set up is a great idea to give some extra space. This works out to be about 5 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet high (if you want to build a shelf to put a 1 foot x 2 feet x 1 foot wooden or cardboard nesting house on it, bunnies love the different floors). The bigger the better really, the C&C cages are great because each square is 1 foot each side and you can expand as far as you like, floors are sold that fit them but using bunny safe fleece is pretty good. I would definitely keep your bunny in the room you will mostly be in if it isn't paired as they really need interaction to stave off boredom and love watching you. If I had the space I would aim for for a C&C cage 10 feet x 8 feet, just so it gives binky room, a little zoom room and room for a big litter tray and lots of toys. I've found they love cardboard and burrow making as they're semi wild, they naturally will shred things constantly and lots of cardboard houses are perfect for this as well as healthy toys and things they can nibble on, just make sure the cardboard is printed and is bunny safe. Cages with doors are better as you can herd them in and out, you can buy a C&C panel that has this, herding is much more preferable than picking them up and dropping them back off via the roof but my friend's bunny doesn't seem to mind too much. My friend expanded her cage to 5ft x 3ft and her bunny was elated, started binkying and running around his new expanded home immediately, he was really happy before but the upgrade really has made the difference for him.

That is a perfectly suitable cage for a Netherland Dwarf. I am an ARBA-sanctioned ND breeder. They should be roughly 1/4 the size of the hutch. For transport to shows, they merely have to be able to turn around. As long as there is a lot of hands-on, these are suitable conditions. Rabbits have been known to hurt themselves when they get the "zoomies" in an open environment or a hutch that is too big. This hutch minimizes and mitigates risk of injury.

I'm scared, I had a rabbit that looks exactly like him and I had that exact same cage. Anywho! You are correct about the carrots, carrots are very sweet. They are a treat, the thing you should mostly feed your rabbit is hay. And free roaming is amazing! But if you cannot free roam, like me. I suggest getting a pretty big size pen you use for puppies and that pen, you can decorate it! So it's a giant wide open space for your bun to be happy in. And I've heard somewhere that rabbits don't exactly like their butt touched... So hold them to a point where you help their back. It's very sensitive

I have a fully white Netherland dwarf rabbit that is even smaller than this one and she is FULLY free roamed and the house is bunny proofed and that cage needs to be thrown the fvck away. Also, picking up a bunny when their back is turned toward you is a mistake. Imagine you being put in that dark and depressing cage. That’s a miserable life. I hate when people think bunnies are any different than dogs and cats. Imagine you putting your dog in that cage. It’s the same exact concept for bunnies and that is horrible. Please educate yourself before getting a bunny knowing that they’re NOT supposed to be in cages. My netherland dwarf is smaller than this one and omg she runs around every single day like crazy! They require big spaces to run around freely and stretch their legs and flop and jump. That cage is a miserable place for them. Rabbits have bundles of energy inside them more than people may think and need at least 8 hours of free time to exercise and if you are not willing to treat your rabbit like you treat your dog or cat (regarding free roaming) than you should not consider a rabbit.

@elle97624 жыл бұрын
Live Free the cage has no shavings on the bottom, this can make it very slippery when the netherland is trying to walk around or lay. you also need to make sure he has a very large amount of hay in the litter box, as well as near their food (and change it daily) you should also make sure there’s leavy greens in there as it is 80% of their diet. also make sure there isn’t too many pellets because especially with dwarfs that can lead to obesity and a shorter life.
@elle97624 жыл бұрын
what i’m saying is that it’s hard to fit all of the correct necessities in there for a rabbit, but i understand if it’s only in there for a little. (with the shavings if it does pee on the bottom it will also be very smelly and your netherland will have soiled feed which will then need to be cleaned
@livefree68784 жыл бұрын
I can definitely see that Wood shavings in the bottom would be helpful. Thanks for commenting back 👍
@bunnyflop51084 жыл бұрын
@@livefree6878 wood shavings are not safe for rabbits. I would use a fleece blanket. thats the best. also I would upgrade the cage as it is too Small not trying to be rude just giving some advice. the BARE minimum is 2 ft by 4ft and even thats small in my opnion. you should also upgrade the litterbox. toys, and chews are also mandatory as a rabbits teeth are ever growing. they also need stuff to stimulate their mind. these are very easy to DIY at home! a proper diet consists of 80% hay. Hay is the most important thing a rabbit can have. make sure your cute little bunny is getting UNLIMITED hay!! and a full salad daily. For more info, I would recommend checking out lennon the bunny. she has GREAT info on rabbits and is where I learned 1/3 of my rabbit care from!! all the best!
