I just sampled Primce's When You Were mine (for recreational purposes of course). After pitching it down 2 semitones and figuring out the most logical chord progression., I heard shades of Twist and Shout. So, Who's Zoomin' Who?

Acting like Vanilla Ice was a one-hit wonder because he didn’t clear his samples is wild. Not only did he have more than one hit song, he has recorded multiple albums, had a movie deal, appeared in Ninja Turtles, dates Madonna, and a whole other career in reality show and television hosting. Hew may not have made great use of his opportunities in the wake of To The Extreme, but releasing Ice Ice Baby cleared or uncleared absolutely was the correct decision.

I'm an artist a producer is selling me a beat and I want to know if the sample is cleared he said yes but how do I get some kind of confirmation that that sample is cleared from him and do I have to get it cleared for myself because I brought it from him
@جَنَىٰ-ن7و3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the useful information but i have a problem It is that i don't have enough cash to pay for the rights I see that there is a good number of artists that don't have permission for the rights but they get away with it can you explain how please
@JasonEllingsworth10 күн бұрын
well i mean there are ways to hide it but the best way is take just a one or two note sample, and make your own melody with it. Modify it some, while trying to maintain the vibe and feel of the original without it being blatantly recognizeable. It needs to be just about impossible to prove you sampled it. If you try and take more than that, they will know.

So what if the sample can't be found? Or the source doesn't exist anymore?
@ExquisiteNoiseRecords Жыл бұрын
I'm kind of wondering about the flipside: how long you have to wait before recordings enter the public domain. How do you find that out? We have a lot of artists sampling 75 year old classical or big band music, etc. We're worried about having "rights" holders say, "...yeah, that's correct, we own the copyright, pay us, sure, sure..." when we don't actually have to.
@dittomusic Жыл бұрын
If the publication date is before 1928 it is public domain! 👍

Sampling is a big part of Hiphop and I cant imagine a lot of people clearing their samples bc its so much work. Many dont give a f and just do it. Hoping nobody ever cares or to deal with it when brought up. Still, isnt it insanely risky to do so?

all my tracks on ditto are never sampled i have a different issue I get this error message [ One or more tracks on your release finish or cut off abruptly. This can result in your release being rejected by some digital] but all my tracks that got accepted before all end the same with no instant cut offs and haven't been able to release music this year because of this issue

Stores will not accept your release if the tracks cut off abruptly or partway through the recording. 👍

A schizophrenic take on sampling. I did not learn anything from this video 🤦🏻♂️ This video essentially is telling people never to work with samples because everyone is going to take your money. You did not explain how you can augment a simple kick or snare and work hard enough on EQ on top of other effects to make it your own. I’m going to look you up now. Pretentiousness is infection.
@jamesdecent94213 ай бұрын
It's pretty obvious that the idea of this video was to be intended for people who want to use melodic samples or anything that doesn't easily fall under fair use. Yes you could argue all day that you don't need sample clearance for a snare, clap, kick, etc as long as you do enough to it to make it your own but that doesn't help any who wasn't to get more creative with their samples.
