This came out only a few days after a close friend of mine died of suicide. I've lost friends before. This wasn't the first. I have lost a friend to a meth addiction. I have lost a friend to cancer. I have lost a friend to the hands of a murderer. I have lost a friend to the hands of a drunk driver. I have lost a friend to being in the Army and going to Iraq. None of those deaths prepared me for losing a friend to suicide. I am still shaken to the core over her. The fact her life got to a point where she felt there was no way to rectify the wrongs that were done to her, where she felt ending her own life was the only way to escape the pain. She was a good person. Beyond good. She was one of my best friends. She was there for me when I was struggling. I met her while I was homeless and she helped me get food and took me driving to get out of the heat. She didn't deserve to be treated the way she was. People hurt her badly. But she was, and she was traumatized because of it, and now she's gone.

Step one, you say we need to talk He walks, you say sit down, it's just a talk He smiles politely back at you You stare politely right on through Some sort of window to your right As he goes left, and you stay right Between the lines of fear and blame You begin to wonder why you came Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Let him know that you know best Cause after all, you do know best Try to slip past his defense Without granting innocence Lay down a list of what is wrong The things you've told him all along And pray to God he hears you And I pray to God he hears you Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life As he begins to raise his voice You lower yours and grant him one last choice Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life How to save a life Where did I go wrong? Honestly, this really brightened up my day, Jon, thanks for this. I always loved this song, & you've done wonderfully with it. 💗 I would really, really love to hear you cover Count On Me by Default, but I'd also be overwhelmingly excited for you to do more Goo Goo Dolls. Between Iris & I'm Still Here, your voice is so perfect for John Rzeznik songs! PS, **stage-whispers to the comment section** is it just me, or are Jon's arms getting bigger from drumming so much? Cauuuseeee..... 😍😍

"Somewhere along in the bitterness" My sister works in a hospital. She cooks and runs food trays to patients. She isnt a nurse but she is in patients rooms all day everyday. She also likes to stay and talk with patients who dont have family or visitors. Im not allowed to be near her till the end of this. For the health of her, me, and the patients she helps. 😩 but its ok for now. Shes helping many people. 🤙

All us "essential" workers are gonna burn out because of the highly increased workload. I hope you and your family are making it through. And all families for that matter.
