I think you could improve your car sales service, by allowing the purchaser to see a ming moll. She would just sit there and say, " please feel free to stare at my perfect accoutrements, I won't try to sell you anything. I may just eat a strawberry, flick my hair back and pout. I'm also quite clumsy and often knock things of my desk and will have to bend down to pic them up." 😂

Friday purchased Kia Sportage through John’s site and saved about $3k and will be delivered registered in Tas delivered to the door. Whilst talking to his representative I at my own choice then added. Extras as tinting towbar sidesteps and some gorky interior stuff at extra cost but that was my choice. With extras was still cheaper than a vehicle here in Tas on showroom floor and will be new stock not one that has been sitting around for 6 months. So take the time and talk to John’s team.

John I’m so impressed with your insight, and id love to give you some work, however despite having enjoyed the Santa Fe, my lady still lives the Volvo XC90 for feel. What can I say, I know you hate the dealership choices Volvo made, but the car is ‘nicer.’ As a consumer tactile and visual design, in a vehicle which is a daily event for 2 hours per waking day, is not a dismissablle concern. So I’ll ride my Zx6r and wifey can drive the xc90 t8, which I hope you will help me buy...

Dear John, I used to be a technician consultant to a North American Manufacturer. The warranty cost is built into the dealer invoice price. 3 to 6% of the dealer invoiced price is the projected warranty cost for that vehicle . when the dealer would call about good will repairs the person at the other end will look at the total amount paid on warranty claims and that would help guide the disunion as to yes or no. the warranty paid out does not include money recovered from vendor defects . ie: TRW makes a steering rack that leaked and is replaced under warranty, that is sent back to TRW for credit. so in reality the customer pays for the warranty.

John I only use you website to purchase my new cars and have saved thousands. I have a car on Carsales to sell privately so that I will have the money to buy my next one. A warning to people trying to sell on those sites - watch out for the scammers. Usually an sms message asking if the car is still for sale (first warning) then what is the lowest price and then where is the car? (all details being on the site and yet they ask questions to which the information is already supplied) The next big and overwhelming warning is the information that they are (a) a fly in fly out employee (b) in the military on deployment and therefore just supply your bank details and they will have their agent arrange collection) It is amazing how they never contact you again when you mention your son (or daughter) is in the military so give me your serial number and my son (or daughter) can catch up with you as they are stationed in Darwin (etc) as well. The other good reply is about your police access to records. No further contact. The last one I told him (or her) that I thought it was about time they changed the scam from the FIFO or military deployment. WARNING - be suspicious is they contact you by sms and not through the site you have your vehicle listed on. Just thought I would mention this scam as it has happened on my last three advertised sales.

Don't tell the dealer you're paying cash because it's all the add ons they charge that makes them $. Decide on the final price on paper before they send you to the warranty seller and then buy nothing extra. If you let them know up front your plan they will not lower the price nearly as much or at all

You're not wrong that dealerships exist on servicing department profit. When I had my Hyundai serviced the techs said I should have the pollen filter replaced. I stupidly agreed as hey, they already have the car. $105 for the part, plus GST, plus installation. A higher spec Ryco filter is $36. Delivered. And it takes around 2 minutes to fit.

Well it was an experiance using the service. I'm not unhappy with the team, they did their best and were open and honest, but the outcome was unfortunatly worse than if I never called. I'm a hardass and I love dealing with competent sales staff. There's two of this brand dealer in the city I'm in. One is slimy the other very reasonable. I had negoiated a reasonable price, but not as good as I wanted and nowhere near John's 10% to 15% discount. So I call up get John's team working on a better deal. 3 business days later I chase them (they must be busy as 30mins on hold and no message bank option, found another number that at least had message bank), they need an extra day, fine. Get one quote back the next day from the dealer I am working with thats $1000 more than my deal. They try another dealer the next day to only get a worse price. The car I've had my eye on has been sitting in the show room for an extra week now and I call the dealer I've been working on to accept my price, only the car sold the day before. They can get me another colour but its my least favourite so they call around other dealers but there's now only 1 in the country and plenty are willing to pay full price. 3 to 6 months for more stock or 12 months until the refresh model lands. I'll wait. Would I use the service again, sure. But I'd probably back myself more.

Depends on how they intend to use it. If you're going to run it until the engine implodes, then it's a decent deal. Long warranty and there haven't been many if any reports of these cars being unreliable. If they're the type of person to change cars every few years then don't do it. Nobody wants a second hand Chinese made car.

I got 22K off an RSQ3 when they first came out. Yes off. I had his balls in a vice cause the other dealer was selling a demo and I said thanks but I am going to buy that as the price is just too good (that I had negotiated with the other dealer which was a heavy discount off their discount) and he said "sit down I'll beat it on a brand new one". Prior to all of that his best price and any dealer's price on a brand new one was between 10 to 15K more than what I paid. It's amazing how actually finding a cheaper car in stock, can instantly change a dealer to find thousands suddenly in the car when he previously told you he was at cost price LOL. This was 2014. Pre Covid before stock shortages and too high demand, it was easy to get thousands off any brand with perseverance. Heck I sold Suzuki's for a while 20 years back (I am 50 now) and even those cheap ass Swifts had thousands in them. I think it was 2900 all up and that's the book prices they gave the sales reps, and I think they were keeping the actual REAL dealer cost from us.. The book was more of a guide of the absolute rock bottom price we could go to. It was like 2 grand in the little 20 grand car itself, plus the 990 delivery charge which is all dealer profit and basically a car wash. They routinely sold them at the max 2900 off *all the time*. I sold a Baleno to a friend and they paid the most out of everyone, I HATE what being a car salesman turned me into, seriously. You have to learn to walk away no matter what, if they won't come to the party. When they want your business they'll call you back. It's different now, you can walk away and they don't care, so it's hard, and someone like John is the only person that can help cause he has the buying power. The other thing is floor stock. There USED to be tons of it, and that's where you get easier deals as they want to move them. Now they don't care as they can sell it to the next person easily. When my sister bought a CX-5 18 months back, no one would do a cent off, and when she found the car she wanted (turbo awd), the dealer rounded UP the price (it was only $10 from 52990 to 53 but it's the sheer peak Covid days smugness) just to be an ass, cause he could. He had the only new red turbo in stock, period, and he milked it for every cent. She WAS desperate though as the VW Tiguan she had was costing more to keep running than to buy a new car with 5 year warranty. Everything went wrong and it was only about 7 years old at the time (and only 3 years warranty in those days). It was the ultimate lemon and so was a BMW before it. Never again she said, never those service prices or repair prices again, and she's so happy she got a Japanese car so for her she was worth it, she needed something reliable for daily driving and got it. It's actually really nice to drive, I finally drove it a few weeks back and they are very car like in their feel, you forget it's an SUV.
