An electric airer is another good option .I don’t have much space in the flat I’m in , but we have one large one in the living room. It can take x2 6kg loads or one large size drum. It does take 24 hours in my experience . I load it in the morning next morning 100% it’s done. But lighter thinner items are done before bedtime . I have the Lakeland deluxe airer . It could be cheaper but it’s about £100 depending on where you purchase it. According to 2022 electric suppliers it works out at 10p an hour . If I had the space I’d buy another one . I used to have a heat pump tumble dryer . But because our Kitchen is so small I’ve left it for my in law to use . Not sure I want to back when we move to a larger place . The only problem I see is if you live in those English homes with low ceilings , not sure if it would create mould issues or damp. I guess a window just ajar would help that . But with high ceilings it’s not a problem . It’s not ideal in winter when we can’t hang anything outside . The only solution is washing everyday so no child has piled up their clothes

If you spend £5 for a full dry then you will be saving money after 30 dries. In our large family we use the dryer every day and paid for the dehumidifier in a month.

In the long term the dehumidifier will save you more money on energy bills drying clothes, plus it removes humidity/damp/condensation from the room or house, aside drying clothes. Tumble dryer is quicker but definitely more expensive. With the dehumidifier, you can even sell it later if you do not need it.
