Every time there's an apparent limit or roadblock, you find a solution! Thanks for sharing your creativity. So many complain about what can't be done, but I love how you are the opposite of that. You just made folder tracks and muti-instruments even better!

For anyone wondering, I figured out the channel "bug" he refers to around 15:40. I thought the same thing as he does where channel 3 is "missing". However, in some mixer presets, it has SNARE TOP and SNARE BOTTOM channels. In many of them, it only has SNARE (which is still just TOP--only not labeled as such). Channel 3 is actually set for SNARE BOTTOM, it's just not used in some of these mixer settings so it doesn't show up there.

Wow. I love this. Thank you! I am working on creating an orchestral sketch, my first, and someone recommended a method like this - using presets - rather than the typical large orchestral templates. Hopefully this makes sense. I'm new to some of this.

Love this David - however, the mixer channels from EZDrummer aren't in sync with the channels in S1v3. Even after i assign the correct channel to the correct virtual instrument and create the preset when I pull it into a project the instruments and channel labels are again out of order. Please help! I LOVE this tip!

Hi David, I'm running Studio 5 and came across this old video. Thanks a lot, it is amazing. However, I have a question regarding sidechains. They don't seem to work with this setup. Normally, when I load a Superior Drummer instrument and route multiple outputs I can sidechain another instrument to the kick. However, now I can only select the 'DRUMS' channel. Do you have a workaround (in a workaround(in a workaround)) for this? Or is there another option to save instruments in version 5? I hope you still read this!! Thanks in advance!

Very cool, but what if I use this preset and in my song I change the drumkit (more toms or ambiance channels for example)? Does it automatically change or do I have to make a preset for every specific drums (kit) setup? Thanks!

Thanks!! Just realized it might make sense to always include effects like reverb within the instrument or audio track effects. That way it will be possible to render down and save CPU.

It seems great, but I have some questions. From what I understand, you could create a preset for every kit in Superior drummer, and for every instrument in the kit, correct? Would adding channels be a problem afterward. Can the Main (bus) be moved to the end of the sequence of instruments? Would this cause problems if Presonus adds the ability to add folders to buses in the future? Could you also do this for other instruments and vocals? Thank you for the video. It's interesting.

Very nice. As of today, Studio One still does not auto hide channels from 2 onwards.... I wish they'd group the channels in the mixer just like in the workaround.

This is for standalone vst apparently. But what do you do if you need to use alot of Kontakt instruments? Kontakt rack offers only 16 stereo outs apparently because the other banks dont activate for some strange reason.

+zeo bas Haha, that's funny. I used to use some colours in V2 regulary which are not available anymore in V3, unfortunately. I usually use red for lead vocals, orange for background vocals, and yellow for percussion. But it also depends on my mood, sometimes :) Many thanks, David

tried this multiple times in Studio One V 4 today, useful! doesn't save as you see in this video though, every time i tried it it saves as a multi instrument but the main "bus" channel, won't save name or colour! always comes up as "multiinstrument" in gray. and all the multi out drum tracks are saved in the chosen colour and names.

David I have a few questions I posted below 2 months ago. Also, I would like to know, what happens when you have to bounce the Superior Drummer tracks to Audio Tracks. Will that cause any problems?
@caradecavalho4 жыл бұрын
A bit late, but why use the splitter in the way you did? Seems like the signal you send to the reverb will not have compression or eq, which I think you'd normally want (and get) when using a send to a reverb from a channel with compression and eq on inserts. Seems better to set the reverb as an insert and adjust the mix instead.

Has this been fixed in Studio One 3? I miss the feature from logic where you could just hit a "+" at the low end of the left side and it would save it instantly.

Ok I got it now! The step that you have make sure you create EZDrummer as multi instrument by dragging a another instrument on top of EZDrummer in the mixer AFTER you configure EZDrummer, then save as a preset!

not saving track templates as in Cakewalk Sonar is a deal breaker to some...this tip mighty solve that!
@911truthfarmer6 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Major fail for S1. Too bad for us our beloved Sonar never got the spotlight as the best overall DAW. Still around now but who knows how it will develop. I'm trying to move to S1 but it's clunky for me. Mostly my problem, but the track template is a no brainer, every DAW has to have that. Nice thing with Sonar is it saves ALL my bus routings and sends as well as the multi outs.

This is great overall in concept, except the edited channel/track names are not being preserved when the multi-instrument is saved as a preset. When the preset is pulled into a new song, the default names EZ1, EZ2, EZ3, etc, are returning, not the edited names previously saved. I am using Studio One Pro, v.3.2.3, and EZ Drummer 2. Anyone else experiencing this?
@FreestyleEntOnline8 жыл бұрын
I found new way... set it up your configuartions in a project ( without the method used in the video ) just the way you would normaly setup your multi output config... presonus actually save youre configuration for you without you having to do anything for it ( sound weird I know )... but lets say you set up everything in a project called BOOM... after settting everything up close BOOM... go to a new project...go to the Browser / go the Files / Find Boom / and now you can literally drag BOOM in to your new project and it will place all the tracks you had in boom including all your configurations
@FreestyleEntOnline8 жыл бұрын
hmmmm I may have given wrong information because I tried importing it on an empty project which will ''seem'' like it works but it just opens ''boom'' file as actual seperate project, instead of placing the configured tracks in the project you wont to drag it in... hmmmm, I feel like im close to figuring it out tho

this would be nice - but it has one serious drawback - you cannot assign individual tracks to the individual instruments. i personally don't like to have all my drums on one miditrack, i like to seperate the individual sounds to individual tracks, which correspond to the mixerchannel of that sound. so esentially, say, 6 sounds, six mixerstrips and six arrangement tracks. with multiinstruments, that isn't possible, as the multiinstrument doesn't expose the individual outputs as assignable. with the multitimbral instrument (like f.e. impact) itself, that works. but then you can't save this configuration....
@Kidraver5558 жыл бұрын
That was great, you must be an expert, lol, thanks so much.
@ronaldboykin97557 жыл бұрын
There's definitely a step missing, or at least the clear explanation of a step in this video! Studio One doesn't expose the separate outs either and it doesn't save the output configuration and names/color because of this! If you just insert the instrument as instrument track Studio One will show the separate outputs but you still have to configure them even if you save as preset. Studio One fails in this regard! It works if you save as a Song template but that's not what we want! I think this stuff might work if you first insert two plugins as a layer first, haven't tried it yet!

the only reason I havent moved to s1 -3 is the faders from the console. They look so cartoonish. lol. I feel like im playing around with cubase ver 1 again. Yes you can modified the console I know that...but like told the developers from presonus ...if you could at least have 3 options for skins in the daw. that would be beautiful. And no....I dont like reaper ...just in case.
