If only I came across your video much earlier, I wouldn't have spent almost $600 replacing my dryer and condenser when my AC was acting up. After getting fixed, it's still acting up once again and 2 mechanics were telling me that my compressor was running weak and needed replacement. Thank you for this very valuable information. Instead of spending another $500, now I'm only going to spend $40 for part plus $150 AC service.

Question, when you were having troubles with your A/C was it out completely? or just not blowing? I have a 2013 Nissan Altima with only 90k miles. A/C blows out the back perfectly fine but doesn’t work in the front at all. You can hear the air blowing but nothing is coming out. not sure if it’s the control valve, actuator, or just blockage in the vents. Any idea’s or should I just take a gamble and replace the control valve?

This may be off topic but a few years ago Nissan got sued out the wazzu for using a cheap part they knew about before they did it to put the transmission together. They went to court on a class action suit and the court ordered them to replace every transmission that was acting up, which was every car in almost every style. It was huge. It was a multi billion dollar law suit I have a Sentra but the Altima was one of the cars listed. You may want to check out the lawsuit. I got a notice in the mail but I also heard a lot of people didn’t because they had moved, etc. you can call Nissan directly to find out more, but I got a brand new transmission free at about 100,000 miles. So I virtually have almost a brand new car. Check it out if you’ve replaced it twice you got one of the junk ones.

the only way that your compressor would make your belt snap is if the bearings are going bad inside the pulley of the compressor. and if you did not want to replace the pulleys you could buy a smaller belt and skip the AC compressor and route a shorter belt around the other pulleys. it sounds like the dealership was trying to wedge you in the corner so that way you would get the service done quickly before you figure it out what was really wrong with it or figured out a way to go around it. thank you for the information

I can definitely say this helps!! I got mine replaced and now i’m getting freezing air! Things I do want to share. Mechanics will try to say it’s the compressor but it’s not, most shops will not allow to replace the single part which is frustrating because of “liability” Research and find different mechanic shops to get your system evacuated, installed and recharged. Luckily my local Kwik car and Lube charged me $200 for installation, evacuation and recharge with no questions asked.

I have a 2016 Altima SL with very similar symptoms. I got the car at 40k miles. It's at 90k now. No major issues at all and it's been a great car. However... even at 40k miles I was always surprised at how bad the AC cooled down. It's sort of cold but not really. Just enough to cool down the car after a long time but definitely not as cold as an AC should be blowing. One thing I did recently that helped was change the air cabin filter. Definitely improved but not by much. Will be trying this fix asap!! Ty.

I know this is off topic but for anyone who sees this if you own a Nissan of almost any model listen up. About 3 years ago Nissan was sued in a massive enormous multi billion even trillion dollar lawsuit. For those of you who didn’t know about it, they were supposed to send notices to all registered owners however I have heard they didn’t and they made no effort to forward the notices or call people who relocated so they received a load of returned mail with no follow up for which they got huge fines and are supposed to be tracking these owners down through the DMV. They were putting in junk parts inside the transmission and they knew they were faulty and would not last even past 45-50,000 miles at best in order to cut corners in production. They knew the transmissions would not last long and some were lasting just past the factory warranty conveniently of 30,000 miles, like 35k miles and Nissan knew they wouldn’t so people were replacing them left and right at a ton of money. Transmissions are way expensive. When they replaced them they put in the same junk parts but they were milking everyone for the cost of a new transmission which we know are not cheap. So they had billions of dollars in charges they should not have had because of fraud. When Nissan tested each model before it’s release they knew this was going to be an issue but they put the junk parts in anyway. People’s transmissions were dropping literally in the middle of the highway at 75 mph and there were serious even fatal accidents everywhere. The cars were just outside the warranty period when they started jolting and stalling. Ironically these cars were barely out of the warranty period so if they didn’t buy an extended warranty which I don’t think a lot of people do, at least I never have because I keep up on maintenance and service which works for me. Plus those extended warranties are limited and none of them would do much for me. New car owners were paying hand over fist for new transmissions of course being none the wiser. Then a guy bought one who was a very experienced mechanic and it happened to his at 35k miles. He knew better so he put it up on his racks and took the whole engine apart. When he looked at it he saw it was the transmission and knew it should not be having issues at 35kmiles. He knew better so he took apart absolutely everything and found the junk part they used and tested it to be sure he was right and he was. That’s when he knew Nissan was making them and they were going out way too early and peoole were replacing them left and right. But when they would replace them they were replacing them with the same junk part but charging the price you would pay for the brand new one. Transmissions were going out on all Sentra’s and altimas and several other models, nearly all models from about 2005 through I think 2015 maybe 2016 all over the world. He concluded he probably was not the only one this was happening to. He hired an attorney and started an enormous class action lawsuit after he took apart several Nissans of different models and they were all the same. . It took a few years in court but they were sued out the butt. In the end the judge ordered them to replace every transmission that was junk no matter how many miles it had on it or how long ago they bought it if they got lucky and hadn’t had a problem. They also had to go back and contact everyone who bought one and replace theirs at no charge. I had abiut 42k miles on mine and about a week before the decision came down mine started having issues. I got a brand new transmission for no charge and they had to give me a loaner while they were working on it. They were so backed up my car sat there for 16 days. If you have a Nissan whether or not you’ve had or are having issues with the transmission google the case online. I’m not sure if there was an end date to the lawsuit but I have a 2013 and it was covered but not until 2020 was the lawsuit settled. It was massive and cost them billions of dollars because it was so blatant the court had no sympathy. So if your transmission has been giving you grief or you’ve had to replaceit and the year was after I believe 2012 call Nissan headquarters and find out. They sent out notices about the lawsuit saying to call your dealer but if you have relocated then you might not have gotten it. I got a brand new transmission in 2020 with zero miles on it so virtually I got a brand new engine almost that runs like a champ like a brand new car, quiet and smooth. The difference in price in the junk fake one and the real I’ve was about 2500.00. So by doing what they did and putting junk parts in and knowing it they ended up loosing billions. I didn’t feel the least bit bad either they deserved it because they deceived their customers. I’ll never buy a Nissan again but the one I have now only has 50k miles on it and I’ve worked remotely since the shut down so I barely go anywhere. I’ll drive this until the doors fall off it’s been paid off for years. It was due to be paid off in 2021 but I paid it off I think in 2018 and with a brand new transmission I’m not planning on buying anything new, not in this economy plus the body is in great shape. I just wanted to to put this out there in case this pertained to you and you didn’t know. Feel free to share this as well. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your post! I brought mine in to a mechanic I really trust. He told me I needed a new compressor. Pretty sure in most cases, other cars would need a compressor. I went ahead and ordered the control valve through a private company. It took about a week to get it. My mechanic was reluctant and nervous about installing it because it didn't come with specific specs to assure it wasn't going to compromise my electrical system. He actually made me sign a liability, to which I did. And sure enough...BAM! Air is ice cold and staying that way! It's now been a couple weeks, mostly over 100 degrees out and I'm staying ice cold! My mechanic was also grateful for the new discovery and putting all info into their database to help other Altima folks! Thanks again!

Great job man, you're helping a lot of people out. information to help you, all cars don't have them, a failing compressor can lock up and cause you some bad issues. A vacuum pump isn't the same thing is an evacuator, there is a difference. The reason most mechanics said to replace the compressor is because it's an insurance fault guide. The odds at being successful at fixing this car in one shot would be to replace the compressor because you get the regulator switch and a compressor, see if they would have just bought the switch and the whole time it could have been the compressor. Who pays for that switch??? yup the mechanic, so to hit 2 birds with one stone you replace both. A/C is very hard to work on and sometimes you can be wrong. Like telling people to rent a vacuum to suck out the freon, if the EPA where to see me using a vacuum to pull freon because A guy in a video, id have a 10,000$ fine. The vacuum is to pull moister out of your system, you can also test for some small leaks, An Evacuation system sucks the freon out and puts it in a tank, it also will separate the oil and puts it in a tank. again, great job on spreading the word and helping people out bro. This will help so many people. Specially in this heat you have no idea how many you just helped out. Keep doing what you do.

If anyone comes across this video and you are having AC issues then save yourself thousands and buy yourself this compressor control valve and take it to a mechanic that will replace this for you. I did it just now and it WORKS 100%. I have a 2013 Nissan and this resolved the issue. Local mechanic charged me $95 basically for replacing the part and recharging the system with Freon. The part on Amazon cost me $30. Another shop wanted to charge me $3,000.00. Save yourself thousands and do this first

You should have had him check if you have a orifice tube or an expansion valve you could have tested it your self by buying a DVOM test for continuity at the low pressure side just remove the connector test across the 2 terminals if you get continuity you have pressure in your system take a long of wire turn your power on with out your car running turn your A/C on jump the wire you should hear your clutch engage if so you need to find out weather you have one of the two items explained earlier the get your system evacuated to replace the one you have then go to your local parts store they have a lone a tool program you can do it yourself .

Hate to tell you this but... If you have metal shavings in your refrigerant the compressor is usually on it's way out. Also there are numerous reasons a compressor won't start or doesn't effectively cool properly ! Such as high and low pressure switches, expansion valve, compressor clutch, low or too high of a charge etc. your also supposed to check your refrigerant pressures with the system running !! High and low side pressures for a proper diagnosis !! Hope this helps. Good luck..

@@mkecarconnection3808 If it's still going that's awesome. The compressor you have is called a variable displacement compressor. That control valve opens and closes to allow the discharge pressure to change the pitch of the swash plate inside the compressor. Which makes the stroke of the compressor pistons more or less if that makes sense. It changes the displacement of gas the compressor ejects on the high side. they built it that way for smoother start up's and less drag on the engine if the cooling demand or load is low. They also were able to get rid of the clicking mechanical clutch on that type of compressor by designing it that way.

@@mkecarconnection3808 One more thing those metal shavings can plug up your condenser evaporator and dryer causing refrigerant restrictions which will cause the system to perform poorly or not at all. Just a thought. Most likely the dryer will catch it all. So if you have anymore issues I would start with the dryer next.

@chris55130 Hey bud, you sound like you know your stuff and I was hoping maybe you can guide me in the right direction. I was driving my 2009 Nissan maxima today on the highway with the ac working just fine, when just all of a sudden the car starts blowing warm to hot air. I was caught of guard. I just watched this gentleman's video and I'm wondering if the maxima has this valve he mentioned. Also, I checked the Low pressure line by pushing the pin in and sure enough it shot out freon, so I'm assuming there's pressure in the line and freon. I thought it was probably low on freon only bc I know from past experience if it's too low on freon it wont activate the compressor, unless I'm wrong. I checked the fuse in the front and it's fine 😩 any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. I know this AC stuff can get very expensive. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for this video I have an Altima sv 2013 and I watched another video that teaches you how to use its intelligent control panel I think is what he called it to run a test to find out if your compressor clutch is engaging the test is done by: hit your ignition switch twice then hit your driver door sensor thing I don't know the actual name but it's a little tiny rubber grommet covered button that your door heads to let it know that it's been closed it's in the panel of the door you hit that 10 times and then you turn your car back off and then hit the ignition switch one more time. That's what your part is to start the test what will happen is: first your windshield wipers will go on and off when they turn off your headlights and tail lights will turn on and when they turn off you will then hear your compressor clutch click five times if it works if not you may hear something from the fuse box letting you know that is trying to work so by doing that we determined that my compressor is working. Which led me to your video and now I know the whole problem. On a side note he said you would also want to probably put water on your windshield when starting the test because your windshield wipers will start going and you probably don't want them to go dry. Hope this clears up some people's questions if you can't understand my directions which I completely understand maybe they'll help you find the video that I watched I don't know exactly what it was cuz it was on somebody else's phone but it may help.

The ac was working just fine. I'm not sure what to do, the compressor isn't kicking on but I know from experience if it's low on freon it won't activate.
