I have a question no related to this term, but about Turkish. I was watching a documentary and there was a scene where a man said “açin kapilari” to ask for a door to be opened. And the guard a the door gave the same command to another guard “açin kapilari” to open the door. But I was under the impression that the phrase should be “Kapıları açin” or “Kapıları aç”. What is the correct way or are both correct and acceptable forms? Thank you in advanced for your help.

Hi there. "Kapıları açın." is an imperative form in Turkish. "açmak" is the infitinive verb. "Kapıları aç." is for the second singular person (you) informally. "Kapıları açın." is for the second singular person (you) formally or second plural person (you) informally. You can check more here (m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02YEcdnQJaVmUPNa8QMcTDzP1Nc8pmiBiggeJk58v4SMZz2nj2vTe2tmLMwxo31R8yl&id=100031038323638&mibextid=WC7FNe) So, in your example "Kapıları açın." is most probably said to multiple people (guards). And "Açın kapıları is perfectly fine." I have not covered this but coming soon however in Turkish, it is completely fine (with some nuance and technical conditions) to change the order of the parts of the sentence. For example: Benim adım Sercan. (My name is Sercan.) You can say this also like this with no problem: Sercan benim adım. This (irregular sentences) could be a little complicated for beginners. Hope this helps.
