Fantastic video, probably the best general post-up tutorial on KZbin. I am a post specialist myself (I'm more finesse than power at 6'2" 175 lbs), and I found myself nodding at almost everything you mentioned. I've developed & evolved my post-up philosophy over the years as I learned and study the game. Besides your tips, I would suggest the following: 1. Develop a hook shot, mid-range shot, and/or a turnaround jump shot. The very best post players all have a go-to shot that they would make 80+% of the time if uncontested. The go-to shot forces the post defender to overplay it on defense, which opens up space for various countermoves. 2. To develop touch and shooting form, my number one drill is one-handed form shooting with each hand. Start in front of the rim and don't cheat. Only count makes that are swishes. Don't count makes that go right or left (the shot should go straight in the middle). Any left or right movement in the shot will be further magnified the further out you shoot (2 inches right at the rim becomes 4-6 inches right at the FT line, for example). - This is the drill that helped rebuild my game during the pandemic. It made my jump shot consistent. I had no left hand before, and this drill strengthened my left hand so I could make layups easily. I can even make hooks with my left now. - When you feel comfortable with your makes at the rim, take a step back. Take a step further back each time you get comfortable shooting at a certain distance. - If you feel like the accuracy & precision are lacking from one distance, don't be afraid to take a step back in for now. - Form shoot from different angles. - I would often spend an hour or more just doing form shooting at various distances and angles, with each hand. 3. The post is a playmaking spot, just like any other spot on the floor. It's tempting to focus only on scoring when you get a post touch. You rarely get the ball, and you are so close to the rim. But the eyes of all 5 defenders are naturally drawn to the person with the ball, and you need to use that drawn attention to your team's advantage. Look for open cutters and shooters to pass to. Attract a double team, and crab dribble (the middle dribble you show here) to a spot to draw the defenders away from a cutter.

Thanks this was a good explanation for me I’m 13 and already 6ft last year I couldn’t really play because I was slacking on my grades because I was constantly sick I had covid 2 times and got 2 colds but this year I’m doing good with grades and I’m a center so this helps with trying to figure out how to make it easier for myself
