How To Scout In Football Manager 2017

I play FM since 1995 and utill latest edition, the 2017 FM i was absolutely sure that the most important thing about scouting is how good marks your scouts have for judging players ability and potential. Ofcourse, your micromanagment after that. Keep scouts busy with the reports from all the leagues and competitions featured as well as assigning them to all regions of the planet. But, playing FM 17 ( i play with Metz, France ligue 1 and doing good) one thing came to my focus. It is the knowledge of the certain cuntries your scouts have. Especially chief scout. I still do the experiment over the issue and do not claim anything, but seems to me....that for the chief scout is more important how spread his knowledge is( how many countries he knows ) than how good marks for vision he has. My chief scout had very good marks, 15 for ability and 14 for potential, but knowledge of France only. And remember, when you do the player or staff search all the search results are filtered by your chief scout. I was expecting, as a club from France, to have constant reports of the talents from Africa. But that was not the case, so i thought about replaceing chief scout. I hired young scout, former Congo international as a chief scout. His marks are low but he has knowledge of 16 different countries from which 10 are african. After just one month, the number of players that apear in my scouting page is , at least tripled. I will wait untill the end of the second season to come with conclusion, but it really seems that knowledge is more important than the marks. In terms of volume of the players that you can reach and scout! Best regards and keep up with the good FM work!!

That's one of the hardest things to do! Quite often I'll just sell players for the cheapest I can. I don't really have a method for raising good cash, other than just waiting for a bid to come in and not putting them on the transfer list unless they ask me to. But then they can be stuck in your squad for ages.

Is "Scouting Reach" important? I am a Liverpool Fan hence naturally I would "sack" Klopp and took over the reign and Pool's Scouting Reach is only about 38% and I then send "Mutual Termination" at the start of the game to almost every Single scouts including the Chief Data Analyst and the 2 DA Pool has on the Main Scouting Team and went on to sign my own scouts and I am able to get the scouting reach up to just about 60% and rank 2nd in EPL behind Man United though I can take over usually in season 2 or 3 as I then was able to sign more scouts.

how did you get all the players at 3:58 ? did you create assignments for your scouts and they found them?

I record on a Macbook, which has a different aspect ratio to windows computers. To remove the black bars I'd need to stretch the screen, which I think looks terrible. If you're watching on a Mac, there should be no black bars. Just one of those things I'm afraid!

Really Enjoying your videos you've helped me in playing my game I got fed up of always been sacked I didn't realise all the stuff you could do on FM and I've been playing the last 10+years of my life I use to let all my staff do nearly everything lol

It depends on how I'm doing the save. In a journeyman, I scout and I watch them for a long time so I know who to sign when I got to a new club. No point signing them if I'm leaving in a year or two. In a longer term save I'll sign them straight away and try to give them first team football. If I can't, I send them out on loan. I'm glad you're finding the channel helpful and thanks for watching!

Right ok I've never done what your doing(journeyman) I'm always a long stayer(Newcastle) I've just got Bolton up into the premiership & in first season finished 6th playing with your Newcastle tactic Like say I use to either get sacked or get fed up of the team and start fresh but I can never seem to sign for a new team 2-3yrs on because I could never scout the right Regens but may try a journeyman task next try to win as many trophies as possible in 15-20yrs Thank you again

when you refine your list what are the key things you look for? especially if you are at a smaller club so the caliber of players is lower

Same principles apply, but a work rate and determination above the league average is key. Then it's about sorting them by position and role and finding someone who is perfect in that role, within budget, and better than the league average. At the bottom end of the pyramid there's almost always someone on the transfer list or a free agent.

Having seen this what if you are at a lower league and can't get a sniff from 15+ rated scouts? The ones I can get are 8-10 rated.

for a premiere league team does every eu nationality get a free pass into the league or do they too need a work permit

Work permit after Brexit. Making it a hell to sign even European players. The Premier League has a point system to determine who gets a work permit, look at that under the rules (I believe) to get learn it, because you WILL need to learn it, so you can realistically know who to go for every transfer window.

Is there a way to do so other clubs buy a player and loan him to you. In real life, AC Milan did that, they wanted to buy kevin prince boateng from porsmouth, he was non eu national and milan had already used the non eu slot, on the other side, Genoa had not used the slot, so they bought boateng, and imediatly loaned him to milan, in italy there is a rule that u can only buy one non eu player per season, (now its 1 + 1 player if one non eu leaves the team), but u can buy infinite non eu players in the same season as long as they are comming from a italian club.

It depends on the scouts, but most of my good players come from me applying filters and telling the scouts to look at the players that come up.

In fm17 you could only sign 2 non eu players per season in Italy. Haven't done an fm18 save in Italy yet

I think it's central Europe for Italy/France/Germany. Not sure though, you can check in the scouting screen though when you select a region to scout.
