Football Manager 2017 Tactic Tutorial - W15 D0 L0 - Newcastle United

I play my full backs on support duty with a "get further forward" player instruction since this tactic doesnt rely on crosses, that will lead the player to occupy the same position as the Attack duty but in a less explosive manner which leads to less risky situations when we lose the ball in a transitional phase and in the same time when a full back receives the ball in the final third he doesnt act like a winger (trying to beat his man and cross the ball) instead he acts like a wide DLF (safe one touch passes) with his primary duty is to give the team extra width and stretch the opposition backline. this, overall, will lead to a less direct approach but will lead to more successful attacks. as it allows your creative players (Advanced playmakers and False nine) to peel the opposition's defence.

And try to pick the player roles that has the First Touch and Technique player attribute highlighted. and ofcourse the players to fill these roles.

Found this vid after suffering a 2-5 loss to Tottenham at home as Newcastle and deciding to research tactics a bit more. Adopted this immediately and won 4-1. Only squad change from the starting lineup was bringing in Lautaro Martínez and using him as the complete forward. THANK YOU.

Hi Jenkaldo..... What can I say about your tips regarding 'Tactics' ...amazing. I am the manager of Maidstone Utd, which plays in the Vanorama South. When I watched your video I decided to take the leap of faith. I must stress that I was under increasing pressure by the board to get results. I have been playing with a squad the never, moved, attacked, defended or pass that well. It was like watching my team playing with 11 Nelson's columns. As soon as I played my first game using your suggestions it was like I was 'Barcelona'. There was so much to watch, that wasn't there before. None the Less that match, at home, only gave me a home 0-0. After that match the Board called me in and said, 'Your job is on the line', 'If you do not get a result in the next match.... YOU are history. PRESSURE !!. But I stuck to your strategy because I saw on screen that things were now happening. I assured the Board that the next match would be won by us. Here we are are in the next match..... winning away from home, at a club 10 positions above us, by 0-2. Then 84th minute came. Now it's 1-2. Then the 88th Minute cmae... Now it's 2-2. Guess what happened in the 89th minute ?... You've guessed it.... Maidstone Utd are now winning buy 3-2. That turned out o be the final result. My team transformed in it's, playing style HUGE TIME. The only difference is that I could not get a complete forward, being in such a lower league, so I used by best 'Deep Lying Forward' instead. The plan worked. Than you for a good tip & also thank you for letting my team play so well that it became an very enjoyable experience. My hat is off to you Sir. If anyone wonders if this 'Tactic' is a viable proposition, even at a lower league. Trust me in my opinion.... IT IS!. Happy Dayz lads :-) x

SmokeeUK I also play my striker as a DLF (Morata) and have had immense success, irregardless of me managing Real Madrid.

Personally I'd change the ap sup to a dlp sup it'd more or less have same effect but might make it a little less subject to counters

Thanks for the advice, I might give it a try but I ran with a DLP before and it threw the attacking balance out a little leading to less shots.

I use, by n large, the same formation and tactic. Have you considered/ tried setting your striker as a DLF (deep lying forward)? Secondly: your defensive midfielder, why play with that role, out of genuine curiosity, instead of say an anchor man?

stupid question if you switch inside forward from the left to right will it affect how the tactics work?

after starting 5 saves and getting sacked in each..usually within 4 or 5 months..I've pretty much given up BUT I will be trying this tomorrow..wish me luck..the old CM\FM games used to be easy in comparison..or maybe I'm just shiubbish

I have installed this tactic and won three games in a row with it, in the Championship with Leeds United. Thanks a lot for the video! But what do I do when we play against a better team? I mean, this tactic works against weaker opponents and opponents that are of the same quality as my team, but when I play against better teams like Newcastle or Premier League teams, what do I change?

Pol Jansen I have the same question. I won Championship with Leeds but I had lot of problems on away. I finished season with 10 Losts. Now in the Premier League after 6 games I've lost with Arsenal (3-1), Man Utd (5-0), Crystal Palace (3-1) and Watford (3-1). I've won only one game versus Cardiff (got promoted with me from second place). What should I change to be able to win with better teams and better play on away?

Hi mate. Just trying out this tactic with Liverpool. What happens when you get the in match help from assistant. Do you make them suggested changes? Also do you let your assistant do his instructions before the games team talk?

Used this at Leeds and went from 22nd to 3rd, without changing anything I've just lost my 7th game in a row. Any ideas for help would be appreciated

Is your morale suffering or are your players really tired? Sometimes this tactic puts you through tough form for reasons I don't understand. You should have a look at my other tactic video for an alternative tactic to use when your form dips.

It can sometimes take a bit of time to get used to it in a team, but it usually works for me. Sorry it hasn't worked out! I did another tactic video with two other great tactics that may suit your team?

I don't change anything before the matches, I just try to make my team is completely familiar with it and then adjust things during the game depending on if we're in need of a goal or not. I am looking for another tactic because this one does have its faults.

I haven't and I don't know if others have, but in threory it uses the same algorithims so it should work fine.
