Try Heat'n Bond Iron-On Vinyl and iron it on your screen fabric. It's totally water proof and you can get as many prints as you want off that fabric. Unstaple the fabric and just store the fabric flat. I use wood embroidery hoops instead of wood frames. No staples, easier screen changes. Organza fabric makes great screens.

1)The shirt doesn't move because it's pressed down by the frame. 2) You insert a cardboard or a plastic sheet inside the shirt. It make sense to you? For example for repeated uses you can fix hinges to the frame, one wire spring to bounce back and so on, but this example it's simple, quick and easy to follow.

@lindamclaughlin55466 жыл бұрын
Do you mean like putting a photo emulsion on the screen? I'm Very new to this and am trying to find something to easily make screens that is not as messy as the emulsion process I've seen described elsewhere. I don't think this process uses emulsion but just the vinyl transfer. The only part that needed washing was the water based ink used to print the shirt. That washes off the stencil with cold water so the stencil can be reused. To make the ink permanent on the shirt, the design needs to be heat set with a regular clothes iron set at the temp right for the shirt fabric, for about 5 minutes or so. After that, only wash the shirt in cold water, so I'm told from other sites. In the few times I've printed shirts, I've used a teflon crafting sheet to cover my ink on the shirt, as I ironed it, so the ink would not come off on the iron. Hope this helps.

If it’s sticky it’s HTV you can still use that but it’s a different process. 651 comes on a white paper so when you peel off the 651 (should be sticky) behind it will be a white paper. It’s like a sticker on a sticker sheet if that makes more sense.

Using chiffon fabric and picture frames may not be the best. Note she didn’t state what mesh size. You need to know how much detail you are doing, the ink you are using ( should be thick and creamy) - the mesh size/count will determine the detail you retain. Proper screen printing frame with cords allows you to tightened the screen. The screen is monofilament polyester mostly these days though some still use silk. Here is an article on selecting mesh size: www.screenprintingsupply.com/Selecting-Proper-Mesh-Count-in-Screen-Printing_b_5.html I would buy my screen mesh fabric from a screen printing supply store. You can make your own frame - plenty of videos to show you how or you can buy pre stretched screen mesh frames with it properly stretched that won’t give, stretch, droop, etc.

If you put the vinyl stencil on the shirt and fill it in with a brush you will have glob spots on the sides. When you go to pull the stencil off you will have the chance of the ink smearing or leaving string lines of ink. When you use a screen it puts an even layer of ink.

Why don't you remove all those old staples? They're not hard to remove with a pair of pliers.
@maga_q_anon83845 жыл бұрын
Should have mirrored it and put it on the bottom of the screen .

Robert Bartosh you waste more ink that way and the vinyl peels off faster.

Nice vid, but a little of your time editing and you'd save everyone a lot of time.

this is what you spend your money on if you decide you have some to waste and have fun rather than pay a local screen printer to make shirts for you. kits like this have been around for ages in various forms and there is a reason they are aimed at people who know nothing about making shirts....they are the only customer ignorant enough to spend money on them to make apparel.

Mhhh. Your washed-out screen is still black!? And the print on the shirt shows a lot pin holes!? I LOVE DIY, but this wouldn't satisfy me. You might use a squeegee instead of a window swiper for better results.

she is doing you a service by putting this out there and you want to be a critic. It's your loss if you decided not to watch- turn your sound off and just watch and be a little more grateful for her time and effort.

Turn your volume down you do have buttons for that. Jez just can't make everyone happy.

the only problem of course is the waste of the paper after you use everything ....not very eco-friendly. too bad

you should never put it on the inside

I'm just learning, why not put the stencil on the inside?

I have used this technique for years and I put my vinyl on the bottom of the screen. The side that sits directly on the fabric. The image must be reversed or flopped in order to read right. I found if the image was very intricate with small pieces, those small pieces would soon fall off, as the squeegee was drawn over them.

seemed to work just fine in video and one less step of not having to mirror the image

Then dont watch it and figure it out yourself. Omg what is wrong with people. Ungrateful and just enjoy putting stupid comments on.

I completely disagree. I like to read the instructions. For me, the extra talking is distracting. And, if you are in a situation where you can't turn up the volume, you can still get the gist of the tutorial.
