Working on a picture frame for Japanese documents, already burned, sealing is next, what to use?

What would you recommend for sealing things like coasters? The one Im using now seals kind too soft for my liking
@Pyrocrafters2 жыл бұрын
Wipe on poly, polycrylic spray; Danish oil; lacquer spray- I think any of those would be a good choice. You want something that will soak into the wood and prevent water from seeping in. Apply 2-3 coats to make sure it’s good and sealed.

How about for outdoors?

Can danish oil be used on the sides of round wood slices? I’ve got some slices I’ve been burning with bark and some moss on the sides and didn’t know if danish oil would react badly to it.
@Pyrocrafters Жыл бұрын
I've have never had an issue with it reacting badly. Although, it's my experience that the Danish Oil won't hold the bark on well enough. After I varnish a piece, I use modge podge (thin layer) on the bark to keep it from falling off. You can use Danish on the rounds, my suggestion is to brush it on, not pour it. If you pour oil on the rounds, the grains tend to stain with whatever shape the pour comes out as. Hopefully I explained that well. Ha!

@@Pyrocrafters Thanks so much for explaining, and I totally get what you mean with the grain being stained 😁

This is exactly what I was looking for! What is the name of the blue stain, Unicorn Spit?
@aas626933 жыл бұрын
I have used Unicorn Spit and it turned out REALLY vibrant for what I was doing. I will use it again!
@Pyrocrafters3 жыл бұрын
It's marine blue from the Miniwax brand. It comes in opaque and semi-transparent. I use the semi-transparent. Thanks for watching! What is this Unicorn Spit you speak of? I must try it. LOL!

I live in Cullman, Alabama!!! I have some wooden gauges/plugs ear rings that I wear. I am wanting to stain them and coat them. I am not sure of the best process. Is there any way you can help me or direct me to someone who can??? Thanks kindly!!!
@Pyrocrafters11 ай бұрын
Hey Johnathan! I’m not sure of the best process for that, especially since it has contact with your skin. I would try searching it on KZbin or maybe even Etsy. There’s probably some folks there that hand make those.

Which is the best one to seal water color pencils burns?
@Pyrocrafters3 жыл бұрын
I like Kamar and UV spray combos. Just make sure to use the Kamar first. I spray two coats of Kamar, then two coats of UV. Kamar Varnish amzn.to/2UBh0zL UV Varnish amzn.to/3iEYVxH

I haven't watched the whole video so i don't know if you talk about this or not, but should I seal all of my projects? What's happen if I don't?
@Pyrocrafters3 жыл бұрын
I recommend sealing all projects, all sides and front/back. If you don’t seal the wood, it susceptible to moisture damage or discoloration. It may warp or change color over time. The sealants will help protect it. Thanks for watching!!

Will the Danish Oil attract dust? Thanks.
@Pyrocrafters2 жыл бұрын
Ummm....That's a good question. I'm not sure. The pieces in my shop don't seem to attract more dust.

What do you recommend to use to seal a wood burned project that is going to be outdoor?
@Pyrocrafters3 жыл бұрын
Hey K Fine, leaving a burning outdoors will still have it's issues even with a good sealant. I use a Spar Urethane with UV protection in it. But it's needs to be kept out of direct sunlight and it may need reapplication at some point. This is the product I use: amzn.to/2BptNeQ

Where can I find Woodburning stands???
@Pyrocrafters Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean by stands; can you elaborate?

@Pyrocrafters I'm sure they ment the miniature pyramid stands that you had the piece that you were varnishing on.
