I sautéed my onions before I added my beans, then add bacon chopped up and a bit of bacon grease and a bit of garlic salt and some oil. Never added bouillon, but that sounds good. I do not drain all the juice because for me it adds some flavor after you've doctored it up. Why take all the juice when the green beans have been marinated in the can for such a long time? The green bean flavor has been in the juice. You would be rinsing out some of the vitamins that are in the juice. Canned veggies already lack some nutrients. You would end up with nothing if you completely drain the can and rinse. Soy sauce is amazing with some vegetarian boullion and other spices and my guests and l LOVE it. Some people have insisted l used neckbone or any pork flavor. So l NEVER drain 100% of the juice. It will simmer out on it's own as it is incorporated in the beans.

My best friend and neighbor had that situation with her husband (he was the cook) until he came down with a degenerative spinal disease and became more and more of an invalid. So, she started cooking and found out she LOVED it. He died 2 years ago, and she has become a pretty good cook, all-around. And, it probably helps your boyfriend a lot, emotionally, if you get his advice and pointers on various things you cook. Would probably make him feel much more worthwhile if he can contribute to your meals that way. (After his condition started worsening, my friend's husband started losing all self-esteem; he increasingly felt that he was worthless).

Something I do that my family loves about my green beans is bacon grease. When I fry bacon I have a glass jar I keep in the refrigerator for times like this. Instead of all the butter I use a good tablespoon of bacon grease.Talk about a great flavor they are delicious!! I do add salt and pepper to taste but instead of boiling chicken bullion I use Wyler’s chicken powder. It’s the same as those cubes but like you saw they don’t break up good,but using this you add straight to the beans. Her’s looked great and I bet they taste wonderful but I thought I would show another way too! Have a blessed day!!!

Girl that looks so good! I rinse my green beans after I drain them, the first thing in my pot is a few slices of bacon, I cook it slow, once it's crispy, I take it out, add my onions in the fat, saute them till they're soft, add my garlic, and some butter, then I put my green beans in, stir gently, put a lid on it, let it cook on low until my other things are done, stir it carefully, occasionally, but it usually doesn't stick, I can eat them with just a piece of cornbread!

There are 4 standard ingredients that I add to almost everything I cook - salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder. They go a long way in cooking most foods. I use all 4 in green beans. I use chopped red bell pepper to give veggies a slight sweetness, rather than adding sugar. Red bell pepper is great with corn, hominy, green beans, cabbage, vegetable soup, meatloaf, homemade pizza, and Huevos rancheros. I keep a quart size baggie in my freezer with chopped red bell pepper in it to grab at a moment’s notice for veggies and eggs. I soften the bell pepper in the microwave before adding to scrambled eggs because eggs have a short cook time.
@christinesmith75054 жыл бұрын
I can’t imagine scrambled eggs breakfast without sautéed onions, butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and country gravy all over the top. When I go to IHOP or Denny’s for breakfast, I always ask them to tell the cook to add onion powder, garlic powder, chopped onions, chopped red bell pepper to my hash browns and ham and don’t forget to fry BOTH sides crispy. Man, oh man!!!! They cook my meal for me, just as I ask. Everybody with me drools over my breakfast order. My hash browns are cooked crispy on BOTH sides. It’s a breakfast fit for a king. The cook always comes out to my table to meet me. They always tell me that that’s how to cook a real breakfast. I order my pizzas like that, too. Double pepperoni, double Canadian bacon, double mushrooms, double red onions, garlic butter, herb seasoning, and red bell pepper. My pizzas are heavy to lift because they’re loaded with incredible amounts of toppings. The delivery guy always says that I know how to make one mean pizza. Forget raw sugar and bacon grease. There’s so much more with which to season.

I agree, wash them real well! I use EVO an garlic , S and P! and onion. Once the onion is cooked and the liquid , whatever kind you use, is cooked almost gone! They are done ! The beans are already cooked so I just cook them long enough to get flavor!
