That looked amazing! I tried this recipe and they were delicious! I slightly deviated by cooking some bacon and using THAT grease and then adding the crmbled bacon I cooked back into the mix. They were awesome! The sugar was something I had never thought of. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

These look delicious. I cook mine the same way but I drain all the water from the cans then use chicken broth in the pan. It just gives another bit of flavor to them. Also near the final few minutes when the liquid is just about gone, I like to put in about a half teaspoon of liquid smoke. That really puts them over the top. BTW, I'm a new subscriber. I ran across your channel and wanted to see what good southern recipes I might find. Thanks for sharing and take care.
