Thanks for the info. I played MTG 10 years ago and just got back into it again with some coworkers and I want to grab these specifically. I haven't bought any secret lair stuff and knew this was going to be hard grab. the info on the queue was exactly what I was looking for

Great information!! Thanks for the help in clarifying the process! It’s much appreciated!

Me too, best of luck if you go for the drop!

Thanks Mark! I don't play MtG but as an X-Men/Marvel fan, I'm going to definitely pick these up.

Good luck with the drop!

Rite of Passage has Laura! That has me excited. I'm not sure I would participate in this, I've not followed MtG for a long time and I will save you my opinions on WotC/MtG, but this is a cool idea.
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
I love that they showcase X-23 on that card =) They squeezed in a lot of characters on the cards. Ice Storm has Forge, Jean Grey, Colossus, Iceman, Bishop, and Archangel in the background!
@DwagginzАй бұрын
@@icollectthings Oh wow! I wonder if they're planning to use the art elsewhere, or if they decided to just tick as many boxes as they could.
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
@@Dwagginz I'm guessing the artists were just having fun and swinging for the fences, but I would love to see the art used more. There was a Wolverine and Storm promo comic cover at NYCC, maybe more of those?

This is all sold out! I wasn't able to purchase. Please do the pack opening video!

This was super helpful, thank you -- I haven't bought a Secret Lair before and wasn't able to find much information on the queue system for the purchase site. One thing I'm still not completely clear on, though: Does the queue start at Noon Eastern time on the dot, or does it open early? Do you get put into the queue on the "Checkout" page, or earlier than that on the "Add to cart" page or how does that work? Thank you so much
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
You're welcome, I'm glad it helps! I don't fully understand the queue myself. The recent drops didn't queue me until I was clicking around right at drop time. For Peach Momoko I got stuff in my cart and started to check out before it queued me. I plan to head to the site early, and then browse and shop right at drop time to make sure I get queued.

@@icollectthings Sounds good, thank you. I'm probably overthinking -- they definitely got me with the FOMO for this one 😅

So with a limit of five, would that mean i can get one set of each or five sets of each? Like five Captain America and five Black Panther and so on or would I hit my limit getting one of each? Im a little confused with the limit
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
The limit in past drops has applied per SKU, and I expect it to be that way here. So if the limit is 5, you could buy 5 of every drop including 5 foil and 5 non-foil of the same character drop. The store should be open to browse and check limits prior to the drop, so you can add things to your cart and plan. Good luck!

As an MTG player they say it's a limited drop.... They said this about Lord of the rings, and you can still find them on shelves all over the country. They also said it about Warhammer, and you can still find those on shelves as well. So when they say super limited but it's a huge IP usually they print a lot. Just to let you know.
@magic_clawАй бұрын
Wrong about this one. This specific drop will be on their secret lair site for the duration of the sale or before it is sold out. The regular release marvel sets are coming later.
@tko_5Ай бұрын
@@magic_claw I'm saying that they're saying that. But Marvel's such a big IP I think they have a lot of secret layers. I think they printed more than people think. I think a lot of people will be able to get this. But that's just my prediction. I think they're saying limited just to make people fomo. But I could be wrong.
@magic_clawАй бұрын
@@tko_5 Ah yes, they printed more than usual for sure.

Secret Lair is explicitly different than purchasing cards from retail stores. Recent limited run secret lairs have run out in literally a few hours. People in Australia literally woke up to the set being sold out.

What can you tell me about 2023 Upper Deck Marvel's Allegiance: The Infinity Trilogy? I can’t find anything about what the cards look like.
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
I haven't been following it closely, but GTS Distribution does have some info here: gogts.net/marvels-allegiance-the-infinity-trilogy-trading-cards-checklist/ I have noticed that the release date keeps slipping.

Thanks for the tips, if I wanted to purchase two full sets and receive two arcane signets as well would I need to create two accounts? The website says one for every 199 spent but better safe than sorry?

In past sales with a bonus card per dollar amount, they added multiple promos automatically to the shopping cart based on the order total.

Are there any mtg marvel cards for collectors or it’s just for players?
@icollectthingsАй бұрын
All the cards in the Secret Lair are playable, but I like to think that players and non-players can appreciate them. I don't play paper / tabletop Magic right now but am still very interested in them. Way back in the early 90s Wizards or the Coast did release a Collector's Edition full set of Beta cards, with gold borders and square cut corners. I don't expect anything like that to come out, but it would be cool if they brought those back for people that just want to appreciate the art. Occasionally uncut sheets are released as collectors items, which I'd love to see for next year's Marvel sets.

Magic the Gathering is generally an extremely poor investment. Magic players don't collect and grade the cards the same way Pokemon people do. And generally older cards lose value due to power creep, where new cards are simply more powerful than old ones. The Magic the Gathering community is very hostile toward collectors and very encouraging of people printing out fake cards to use in decks. This is reflected visibly in the complete lack of liquidity relative to something like Pokemon. It's a massive gamble from a financial collectibility standpoint. The overwhelming majority of Secret Lairs cost less today than they did at release, greater than 99%. The only ones that have seen the sort of gains that would cause FOMO are extremely exclusive ones given to tournament winners and things like that. I would only buy these if you particularly like them and don't care about the longer term financial value. The collectibility of these is largely dependent on people outside of Magic the Gathering wanting them.
@spamtontoАй бұрын
To give an example of the absurd lack of liquidity in Magic products, a huge amount of Secret Lairs are actually worth less sealed than the constituent cards as singles. There's simply no liquidity to close the arbitrage and no one cares about sealed product or collecting. There are sealed 20 year old booster boxes worth less now than when they came out. The overwhelming majority of new products collapse below distribution price within weeks and months of release. I actually wouldn't even say it's a gamble, I would say you're almost guaranteed to lose money. It really does depend on how many people outside of Magic want the cards at the end of the day.

stop buying secret lairs until they go back to the old model.
