LED 4-Pack: amzn.to/3i1pQjM
I will walk you through the 2 main areas to consider when selecting LED recessed lighting to retrofit into your 4, 5, or 6 inch recessed "can" lights. LED recessed retrofit lights are easy to install and flexible to fit any room and lighting need. These lights are cost effective and save you money every year compared to standard incandescent light bulbs. Bang for the buck I would say LED retrofit recessed lights are one of the best updates for most homes to brighten up a space and update the look of your light fixtures.

You initially showed in the video a 3-prong led light with the night light to install but you only showed the finished product in the hallway. Then when you went to install the light the one you have is different and shows the “V” sling like prongs one on each side. Do you have a video that shows the 3-prong and how to install it?

Hi - great video. However when we pulled down the old recessed trim, it pulls out the entire fixture leaving nothing to hook the prongs of the new led fixture into. There is no "can" that remains - It is just open to the attic. These are probably close to 40 years old. Will this product still work or do we need a different product. We haven't purchased the new led fixtures yet. Thanks so much!
@computerkid1416

My problem with these kinds of fixtures is that, inevitably, the integrated LEDs will go bad and, who knows if the same exact model fixture will be around in the future. I prefer ones where you can put your own LED bulbs in.

The hardest part is cliping these into place. We had these installed 5 years ago in our kitchen when we remodeled and while they are still burning brightly, they are starting to sag; creating little gaps around the trim, and not looking as sleek as they once did. I've tried adjusting/tightening them to no avail. Any suggestions? Ive seen newer, flatter models with much tighter clips but I don't want to rewire all the [9] lights in my kitchen.

Do you need new dimmers/switches for LED lights? Will the old incandescent light switches/dimmers work?
@EverydayHomeRepairs
@EverydayHomeRepairs 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gonzalo, depends on the type of dimmer installed. You can try it out but if the dimmer is not designed to work with dimmable LED bulbs then you will have very little or no ability to dim the LED light. Since LEDs pull far less wattage compared to an incandescent bulb an older dimmer isn't going to be effective at controlling such a small range of power draw. Best of luck!

Hmmm, and the standard bulbs were working before? Do you have a dimmer switch for the lights? Since LEDs draw very little problems an older dimmer switch can cause an issue. You could swap out to a simple residential 15 Amp switch and see if the LED work after the install of the new switch.

Suggestions welcome.
@EverydayHomeRepairs
@EverydayHomeRepairs 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Susan, you are correct that you need to remove the light from the can housing to change the Kelvin setting which will change the light color. The lights are a little tricky to remove the first time but once you get the hang of it you can easily remove. Just pull the light down to access the little metal legs that spring out. You can then pinch the legs together and remove from the hooks on the can housing. Let me know if this doesn't work.
