Power factor is not typically considered when calculating the current for a single-phase load in designing a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) for several reasons: Simplification: MCBs are primarily designed to protect against overcurrents and short circuits. Considering power factor would add complexity to the design calculations without significant benefits for single-phase loads. Unity Power Factor: Many single-phase loads, such as resistive heaters and lighting, have a power factor close to 1 (unity power factor). In these cases, the apparent power (VA) is approximately equal to the real power (Watts). Therefore, using the current based on the real power simplifies calculations. Limited Impact: For most residential and small commercial applications, the impact of power factor on the current is not significant enough to warrant special consideration when selecting an MCB. Focus on Overcurrent Protection: MCBs are primarily intended to protect against excessive current that can lead to overheating and fires. Their main purpose is to disconnect the circuit when the current exceeds a safe threshold, regardless of the power factor. However, in industrial or commercial settings where power factor correction is important, and where non-linear loads like motors and electronic equipment are common, power factor may play a role in electrical system design and protection. In such cases, other protective devices or specialized equipment might be used to address power factor issues.

If we use 6AMP MCB and as per your calculations load current is 4.5AMP . Now if current flow through load is 5.5 amp. Then equipment may damaged and MCB will not trip ...is it correct?
