The biggest problem for me is that you have to pay for the shirts upfront, like you mentioned. Sites like RedBubble and Teepublic just ship the shirt out and then pay YOU the difference between the cost and price. But with Printful, you have to pay for the shirts before they will ship them, which is a MASSIVE problem if you’re just getting started and don’t have capital for that. Aren’t there ANY POD sites that integrate with Amazon or Etsy and DON’T require upfront payment? I see this as a huge, huge market for some wise company to swoop in an exploit.

Hey , So when you say that printful charges for the shirt, does that mean I’m actually giving them 16$ upfront frm my bank account so they can make the shirt or do they take the 16$ from the amount of the sell, like teespring does. I’m confused. Bc I’m starting with little to no money so I can’t give them 16 upfront for every shirt. ??

Yes but you get paid a few days later. It's not as if they are holding your money for a month. My suggestion is if funds are that tight then you might want to wait until you have at least $100 saved up because that cost is not bad given the fact you get your money pretty quickly. If you think about it, real businesses require some investment and I think this is very small compared to offline businesses. This is why I love the Internet. Plus, most people don't just start with a bunch of sales out the gate. I got one sale and it took like 5 days to get the next so it wasn't like money just started coming out of my account like that. Unless you are expecting a bunch of sales out the gate, I don't see it as an issue. You can also do other POD that don't require upfront costs like Merch By Amazon, Spreadshirt, RedBubble, etc.

En.Buthina Alharbi a niche is a narrowly defined group from a broader group. So dog is a broad topic and a specific breed of dog is a niche. You could even niche it further by doing a shirt for a breed of dog and target it to women.

When printful charges you after Etsy send them the order, is it deducted from your bank account or invoiced and you pay it after Etsy sends you the full amount? That would be good in separating business cost and profit.

RedBubble is for more abstract artistic designs. You probably won't sell the same things there that you sell on other platforms. There are many people who sell well there without marketing. You just have to learn what the market wants. Studying the designs they feature on the homepage gives you a nice idea.

I'm not sure what you mean about the first part? What part were you missing. Adobe Illustrator has a trace feature where you can scan the art and turn it into a digital file so you can upload. If you search for scanning art in Illustrator here there are tons of videos.

If one has to pay for shirts before it's printed and shipped, it's almost like the person is not really making money but more so just getting back what he or she has paid for each time

You're getting the same as you would if this were a traditional Print on Demand where you didn't have to pay upfront (Merch By Amazon). The difference is you are paying upfront. But you're still earning the same in the end. So if you don't like the idea of paying upfront, just do RedBubble, Merch, Zazzle, etc. They don't require upfront payments. Nevertheless, the earnings are roughly the same in the end.

I design mine in Photoshop and Illustrator. There are tons of tutorials here on KZbin for how to use both programs. You can also use GIMP, Gravit Designer, and so many others.

Ghost Gear Online inc All in the same store. Men’s vs women’s isn’t a niche on its own, so just focus on the niche and there is no need for two stores.

debbie herman The niche I ended up dominating had very low demand but I don’t remember what the engagement number was. But I didn’t just focus on that keyword. I found related ones that had more activity. That’s why it’s good to target several keywords on your shop.

If you mean "find" literally, I don't find designs, I create them. A lot is trial and error and understanding the niche market you are designing for. You have to understand that it's typically the 80/20 rule. 80% of your earnings come from 20% of your designs.

Well ideally you want a niche where people like to buy shirts. So hobbies, sports, professions, etc. are good places to start. Also social topics like politics, gender, etc. and anything trending is good.

Hi pfredro, you should create PNG files instead of JPG. They are much higher quality. I only save my work as PNG, never JPG.

after 6 hours of research, I still haven't found a niche, and the demand on etsyrank.com is not accurate since it takes info only from bing.

Yes, but it's still a start and it certainly has helped with my niche. For example, one keyword I'm targeting says "low competition" on Etsy rank and I'm able to drive traffic to that shirt organically with no ads. So it may not be perfect but it at least gives you an idea for what is less competitive than something else.

Wow, that is great for you Lisa. Unfortunately I only get from 5-10 impressions a day per shirt which is very low in my opinion. I think I might start many listings in many different niches and pray to find a winner lol.

You control your profit. It totally depends on the price you set. Each product has a different base price. So if base price is $16 and you charge $24 then your profit is $8 minus Etsy transaction fees of 5%.

The shipping is included in the base price. So it's factored in by Printful. So just focus on whatever you want your margin to be.
