Wow, mind-blowing feature! The ability to control content even after sending is a game-changer. Privacy and security at its best. Kudos!

Thank you for sharing that information. Even though the button is probably right there in front of me I never would have looked or known what it was without this video. Thank you thank you thank you!

The big problem is this only works if recipient email address is a Google account. This is because the recipient must be logged into that google account in order to read the message. Therefore in practice I rarely use the feature as I first need to verify if the recipient email address is a google account or not. I suppose this is to make sure the message remains private in the event the recipient forwards the email, or the link in the email, to another recipient. Otherwise, it would be an awesome feature!

Great but needs a google sign in if you are sending to an Outlook user unfortunately. And sends a link to open the email might look like a phishing email for the recipient. But great for gmail to gmail.

I believe if you require a passcode (not the default option) when using this feature, it will be available on all email clients.

What if the recipient uses an email app?

Great question!

Regardless of what email client or app the recipient is using, the end result should be the same.

Good to know. Thank you. But I don't think I have seen that lock on my Gmail. I will look again tomorrow. Handy little feature.

Do you mean a PC/desktop app like Thunderbird etc? It all depends if recipient email is a google account as they will need to sign into that google account to read the email.

Actually it seems to depend of the email client rather than the email account. I tried sending an email from one Gmail account to another Gmail account that opens the email in the built in email app on my iPhone, and then the feature doesn’t work. I can copy/forward/print just as normal, and when access is removed, the email is still available in the email app. So basically this feature only works inside an organization where everybody is forced to use the browser based Gmail app.
