My zip brush isn't spinning since I cleaned it, is it the brush or the vacuum?

Use a wire wheel on the bristles? Really? Sounds like a good way to destroy the bristles. The Zip Brush is what sold me on the Kirby. It's also great for the carpeting in a car, because it does a good job of beating the ground-in dirt out of the carpet. In my experience (over 20 years with a G5) you'll never get enough of the pet hair out of the turbine to make it work well. Kirby should have designed this part so it could be disassembled to be cleaned. The turbine shaft is pressed into the plastic end cap, and I've found that I could pry this apart, disassemble, clean everything thoroughly, lubricate the shaft with a silicone oil (doesn't attract dirt as much as a petroleum based product) and press it back together in a vise. I also clean the bronze bushing in the shell and apply a little grease. The grease makes it spin much more freely, but you'll need to regularly disassemble it and clean the bushing and shaft, because the grease will attract dirt. I expect the number of times I'll be able to pry the turbine apart and press it back together to be finite, but I've been servicing my Zip Brush in this manner for over 20 years and it's still going strong. I service it as soon as it starts slowing down or making noise.

Believe it or not but we use a wire wheel when it comes to cleaning bristled tools whether it's Kirby or Rainbow. We've never had any sorts of issues.
