Thank you so much! Such basic information considering how available the parts are and couldn't find how to time it. You are a good dude 👍

this is actully really helpfull i messed mup my 150 by doing a rookie mistake and not marking where the timing chain and the cam line up so thank you

That’s what I had to do. The engine did not want to stay exactly where the “T” line was on the flywheel. I had to hold it there like you said and then make sure the holes on the camshaft were lined up.

T means TDC and F means fire {when the spark happens} T does NOT mean timing.

Can someone tell me what that one bolt is on the piston jug? It's by itself... threads down to I believe the oil channel...what is its purpose?

Piston jug?
@A_Stereotypical_Heretic Жыл бұрын
@@chriss4365 the cylinder body. The jug. The body that the piston travels in, where the actual cylinder is. There is a flange bolt on the side, it goes nowhere...and holds nothing down. I was just wondering what it was.

@@A_Stereotypical_Heretic I think you mean the hole on the outside. I'm guessing its to hold down a mounting bracket for something but no idea what.

I replaced my crankshaft on my 50cc vespa but now it takes really long to make some rpms if given full throttle what can I do?
@chriss4365 Жыл бұрын
You will have to investigate. I would start with checking the air filter and fuel filter and look for a pinched air intake hose. Why did you change the crankshaft?
@MksDrives Жыл бұрын
@@chriss4365I changed it for a 'sport crankshaft' with the intention to gain some performance but my air intake isnt clogged and my fuel filter is open
@chriss4365 Жыл бұрын
@@MksDrives how can a performance crank shaft work? I'm guessing it's lighter. If the engine was fine before I'd say the culprit is the new crankshaft. Check the cam and crankshaft bearings. Did you install bigger jets?

I adjusted the timing correctly and mine will try to go but won't actually fire up and it does have enough compression. Checked valve lash and everything

You have an issue with either fuel spark or air.
@jordananderson8299 Жыл бұрын
@@chriss4365 Those are not the issues. carburetor, CDI, coil, basically everything is brand new and I did not have an intake leak

@@jordananderson8299 my next guess would be a vacuum leak. Check those rubber hoses they dry rot fast.

If timing is out would it cause a progressive tap and smoke come from exhaust And a hard start?
@chriss4365 Жыл бұрын
Timing will not go out on its own, unless the tensioner breaks allowing the chain to pop off. Hard start is a classic symptom of the valves needing to be adjusted they need to be adjusted every few thousand miles.. Their are videos on the channel on how to do it. You will need to buy a valve cover gasket.

@@jasoncarthew2279 valves could still need adjusting. You have to line up the 2 small holes and the bigger hole on the top with the magnet marks as showed in video to make sure its not off. Why did you change the guides? Had my bike almost 10 years never had to change them.

@@alexcruz9449 why are you needing to reset the timing? You can try turning the engine using a socket on the magnet nut. Turn clockwise. Is the timing chain connected? If it is it could be opening a valve stopping the piston. You have to turn it into place before you install the chain on the cam. Make sure the cam isn't opening a valve.

@@chriss4365 I bought it from some guy and he said the timing need to be set
@kennyremouremovich87886 ай бұрын
Sounds to me like engine damage has occurred. If the engine won't spin a full 360° you most likely have a bent valve and the piston is hitting that valve because it's stuck open inside the combustion chamber
@cheersmate3853 жыл бұрын
Won't the piston come out of the TDC when you move the flywheel?
@chriss43653 жыл бұрын
you only move it slightly to hold it on the T mark. This works fine as the engine fired right up after reinstalling it. This clip is from my scooter video redoing the entire engine at the end you can see me start the engine up.
@DieselRamcharger2 жыл бұрын
the T mark on the flywheel represents where TDC is at. TDC is an angular position. men the marks are lined up you are at Tdc if you move it, move it back.
@grazz7865 Жыл бұрын
That’s what I was thinking. But The engine won’t stay right on the “T” line without holding it in place. The engine doesn’t fall into place right on the “T” line. I held it on the “T” line then lined up the holes on the camshaft. I hope i did it right

Top dead center when putting it in time can be on compression i fuked up and did that ran like shitttttt. Im waiting for my cylinder head and rocker arm assembly to get here this week. DON'T Time it on compression.
@chriss43654 ай бұрын
That doesn't matter because you line up the T mark with the piece of aluminum and at same time line up the 3 holes on the cam gear. The piston may be in compression stroke then but it does not matter. Other engines maybe but not this one.

I lined my 150cc gy6 crank on the mark before the T on my flywheel (THIS IS WHAT MY MARKINGS LOOK LIKE ON MY FLYWHEEL: l T F l My flywheel wanted to rotate just past the mark a little bit if I let it go ( roughly about 5 - 10mm past ) so I had to hold it back that little bit so it was perfectly on the line before the T mark and then make sure the cam shafts lobes are pointing down towards block and big hole in the sprocket is facing outwards towards valve cover with the two markings ( one on either side of the sprocket ) are perfectly inline with the mating surface between of valve cover / valve body ( CD ) ^
