I use the little red washers between the mandrel bolt and between the shank, because when you apply a lot of pressure while operating they can slip. I have and always go Red (180), Gray/Blue (400), Green (1000), Gray (2000).... purple peach pink are almost all unnecessary. If you do want an inbetween, you only need purple (600). With that order you will achieve a perfect mirror finish you can see you reflection in. You'll break them first learning so extra is a must. I started with a $35 dremel and these just repairing rings, started me on my whole business.

hi! I've been binge watching all of your videos and I'm just so thankful to have come across them because they're all so informative. I do have a question, I have some brass pieces I want to have a nice shine, would I polish them this way and then use a tumbler or just use one of these methods instead of both? Also, is there a good way to seal brass so that it won't disciple? Like a lacquer of some sort? So sorry, one final question, lol, if I wanted to solder a loop to the top of a bezel, how does one get the solder to be the same color as the piece itself? Okay, sorry for the 100 questions. ;) Thank you so so much.

+Rio Grande Thank you so much! I will check out all those options :) An additional question I have was, is there a good way to polish resin? And what is the best resin to use when making jewelry? I'm looking for something that'll harden and look like glass and won't yellow in the sun or become cloudy. (preferably a UV resin that doesn't need to be mixed?)

Do these mandrel fit a Dremel?

Hi Steve, the kits and the mounted radial bristle discs come with mandrels with a 3/32" shank. They can be used with any rotary tool that accepts that size shank.

Hi! When I used these with my Dremel, I think I had to mount them on the mandrel so that the spun in the opposite direction of my Flexshaft. In Mark's demo, the "curls" of the bristles seem to flow "clockwise" on the mandrel, but I think I had to mount them so they flowed "counter clockwise" for the Dremel (if that makes sense). Test it on scrap metal to make sure it's spinning the way it should.
