This has performed exactly as desired kzbin.infoUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 . Basically, instant hot water instead of waiting up to two minutes as it was before. I have had this installed almost exactly one year now and just replaced the anode which is pictured. I pulled it out at six months and cleaned the heating element and removed debris. I would recommend a cleaning every six months and an anode replacement yearly. A mild citric acid and water solution soak really helps clean the heating element and tank. It must be fully disassembled to do the cleaning and that is not difficult but could have been made easier with a couple of design changes but no big deal.

Hello, so I do have a few questions, I've had a 29g freshwater tank for about 3 years. I do have live plants in the tank, and they all seem to be doing well, but I want them to do better. i use liquid fertilizer and CO2. the majority of the plants have been in the tank for over a year. however I don't have a "substrate" I just have a medium sized light brown river rock. I've been thinking about trying an appropriate substrate to help my plants. how do I go about changing what I have to a good substrate? what brands do I buy? and how do I layer the substrate, are there multiple layers? thank you for help:)
@MASSAquariums8 жыл бұрын
You can simply add pea gravel with root tabs or add like a flourite capped with some gravel. Take the fish out and drain most of the water then add the substrate water and let the filter run for a bit then add the fish back in. Make sure to rinse the substrate good before you add it.

I thought about the kit but always hear complaints about the stuff the tank comes with. Petco has a sale until feb2nd 1$ per gal tanks up to 29 gal so I figured just get the tank that's usually 80$ for 30 after tax and use the other fifty to get a decent pump that's not to loud. Rocks are cheap. Then send a little to get a some what decent top (hinged). Total after all the other stuff it comes to 158ish plus the cost of fish. Compared to a125$ tank that I always hear bad things about.. Well nightstand itself but the thing that come in the kit. Happy daughter and wife happy life right?

We plan on keeping the shark, and feel like we are going to have to re-Home the pleco since it has gotten a bit big.... Does that adjust your recommendation?

Mike what's up like your video now I have a 55 gallon aquarium tank I took my time settings everything up, started by cleaning the inside with warm water then I soaked and rinsed my pebbles off. Okay then I leveled them off in the aquarium then I soaked all of my decor for the aquarium, I try and do a little on the aquarium cause I'm a truck driver so I do everything on the weekends. I have the marienland power filter and I also have chemi pure blue, but I watched some KZbin videos showing that you have to recycle a new aquarium before you put live fish's in I filled the aquarium up on Sunday 3rd so I'm not going to put anything in it around the third week in march. Now I watch videos where some guys are saying that you still have to keep the aquarium clean one guy puts a foam filter into his power filter to get particles that my still be floating around can you please help me with some good Information that will help keep my aquarium clean and what i need to do next thanks.

i am a beginner and what i really want to know is: 1. which fish is best for beginners ( tough kind of fish since i will surely do a lot of mistakes like overfeeding them or changing their water too soon or too late) 2. which plants are easier to maintain ( artificial or real plants). and if artificial plants, do i need herbivore fish to help clean the artificial plant from time to time? 3. which types of fishes will be best to be put together ( do not fight amongst themselves) including herbivores or janitor fishes if needed? 4. if i use tap water to set a fresh water aquarium up, what do i do to remove the potential chlorine in the water. do i add some medicine or anything to make the water healthier for the fish? 5. how do i add the fish? do i scoop them out and drop them in the tank? or do i put the dirty water they came in with in the tank with them thus making the clean water tank dirty? 6. how often do i clean or change the water in the tank? 7. how often do i feed the fish? if i got like 7 fishes in there, how do i make sure each of them get enough food and not that one or two are eating all the food i am dropping in for them. 8. is there like vitamins for the fish? or do they need any vitamins like the cats and dogs do? you see, for me these are the basic questions of a beginner. a real beginner. i would be very very thankful if you make a video answering these questions. i will subscribe on your channel just in case you decided to answer my questions. thanks.

So far we have lost 8 fish. 😔 We are trying to get the water right now. We don’t have 3 weeks to spend on getting the water correct. So we need to speed this process up. You said platties. Also I'm wondering when I do my water changes during the cycle if I should pre-treat the water before adding it in or can i add in tap water then add the dechlorinator? Is dechlorinator the only chemical you use pretty much when cycling a new tank? Many thanks, Mike

Thank you so very much for this video. We have been gifted with a 10 gallon tank, and my husband and I want to start off. We are both very new. Neither of us never had an aquarium. There are so many beautiful scapes, but few that go over the bare bone basics for a beginner

Lol. Have to start somewhere right. I keep my shiners in a 10 gallon for ice fishing.

Nice video for beginners, of which, I am one. I’m planning on a 20 gallon long, low tech aquascaped tank. I’ve been doing some research for a couple of months, and plan on a few more. I want to be really prepared when I set up my first tank. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for all the info!

not criticism, just advice: a tiny bit of editing goes a long way, and you don't have to apologize for being sick. this is a reference that people will be watching months/years later, it doesn't matter

Thank you. I keep it simple. I have been editing a little more as of recent.

Hey! I actually have a question about prepping driftwood for a tank. I've heard a lot of different things like boiling it to get the tannins out and also soaking it for weeks and weeks. what do you personally do to get a piece ready for the tank so it doesn't turn your water brown?
@MASSAquariums6 жыл бұрын
I just boil them

Adding ammonia to the tank?!? 🤯 the nitrogen cycle ain’t that deep. I’d be more concerned about someone adding fish to a tank they’ve dumped ammonia into instead of tap water with just declorinator and quick start or even actually just declorinator

Hi. I'm about to purchase my first tank. I will be putting freshwater fish. I been doing some research and came across your channel. So much useful advice. I fell in love with the Black Molly. What other fish can i put Mollies with? and also I read that driftwood is bad for Mollies, is this true? Thank you and keep up the good work.
