How to set up a Holosun HE510C Optic

How to set up a Holosun HE510C Optic:
Power: The power can be accessed through the (+) button to turn on, (+) AND (-) to turn off.
Brightness: Press (+) or (-) for manual brightness
Auto-Brightness: Press and hold (+) for 3 seconds until reticle blinks once
Reticle Selection: Press and hold (-) for seconds until the reticles changes. There are 3 types of reticle.
Timer Setting: Press and hold (+) for 3 seconds to turn on auto-brightness, release, press and hold (+) for 10 Seconds until the reticle blinks.
1 blink=10 minutes
2 blinks=1 hour
3 blinks=12 hours
4 blinks=desable
The elevation and windage can be adjusted with the tool provided in the box.
The quick detach system attaches with the lever on the rail.
Zero at gun range.

This is the only video that explains the tricky sleep timer settings. I couldn't for the life of me get it to enter timer settings cause the manual doesn't explain that you have to quickly press + again after it changes modes. Thank you for this video. I have mine set to 10 mins now.

I believe the optic comes with a Holosun QD. The AD mount would be a 3rd party upgrade just like buying a unity fast or others.

Did you ever find out where the small springs go? They go inside of the long bolt that has a center tube both springs go in it. The tube that holds the latch.

Great instructional video. Would you recommend a Holosun 510c reflex type red dot over the tubular red dots? Would you say the Holosun 510c reticle is more crisp/clear than a tubular red dot sight?

Can you adjust the brightness in auto mode? When I'm at the lower setting I can see it adjust when lighting switches. When I turn the brightness up it seems like the auto light feature doesnt work and it just stays at the brightness I selected. Basically does the auto brightness only work on 1 setting?

No. The Auto-brightness feature disables when you change it manually.

Haven’t mounted mine yet but last night I was just trying to take battery tray out just to do it and the tray is so tight in there I can’t get it out. Didn’t want to force anything. Any ideas? Should I just ram rod it out?

Shouldn't be super hard. I think there's a gasket that holds it tight.

Ues flat part on provided tool to pry, the tray has a gasket that makes it a little difficult

I just picked up my 510c and I just ran it on solar and the red dot was blinking?? So I took the battery tray out and put the battery in the right position and still the it blinks? I put it away in my safe frustrated that something was wrong with it took it out again and put it on and it was fine for 5minutes them all the sudden the damn thing started blinking again? I’m wondering if this battery is dead ? But how in the hell Is holosun going to send a brand new red dot with a dead battery? I wonder if anyone else has had this issue? I guess I’m ordering another battery now! Thanks for the cool video on how to use it. Lmk if you heard of anyone getting a dead battery or if it can be something wrong internally? Thanks buddy

Yes green out of the box. The optic or the box will say HE or HS. If it says HS 507c then it's red. HE 507cis green.

Yeah the mount goes straight onto picatinny. No tools needed. It just has a lever

You do have to tighten the one bolt. I got the rs regulate yugo lower for my m70. With a akrk upper. Cost $220 out the door. Plus the holo sun $335

I don't know. They usually come with the battery separate in the box. You'd have to contact Holosun or just get a new battery for peace of mind. I'd just test the optic to make sure it's good and put a new battery. I buy multiple batteries for my optics to keep as backup. I keep them stored in a bin and 1 with each gun at all times.

No. The light has different settings independent of each other: 1. Auto/Manual. 2. Level of brightness on manual. 3. Shake awake off. Shake awake on (like 3 time settings). 4. Reticle type. You can make it manual with shake awake off. Manual with shake awake on. Auto with shake awake off. Auto with shake awake on.

The instructions worked until it says to press the "_" button and looked all over for that not recognizing they used quotation marks to designate the minus button! I have an IQ of 133 so that may be the problem...LOL:) Thanks for your help! I've owned two of them for over a year and never changed the reticle before giving up.

The cones in human eyes have a much wider green spectrum than red. That means we pick up on green better than other colors. Some people say that target acquisition with the green dot is significantly faster than with red dot. Others say there’s very little or no difference. No one (as far as I’ve seen) says target acquisition is faster with red than it is with green, so I would suggest green dot as a safe choice.

Should be holding zero. You can use the outer circle as a guide for hold overs or use just the dot. It's versatile.

All of mine came with shake awake on right out of the box, but I double checked and adjusted the setting to the shortest time anyway. I think one came in manual, one locked in a specific brightness (if I recall right), and the another in auto. I set all of them on manual but don't lock it.

@@betlogenako7193 No. The brightness is independent of the shake awake. My last one came similar. It came on auto and I had to put it on manual (personal preference). If you follow the steps for shake awake on my video, you'll get to the shake awake settings. Hope this helps.

You don't have astigmatism, right? I have astigmatism which causes me to see the dot fuzzy especially red dots more then green. That's why I went with green.

@@WoodsDog I wasn't even aware of possibly having an astigmatism before posting tbh. All the forums I visited on the subject have pointed to the possibility of having an astigmatism and I was ready to believe it before I took my red dot outside where it showed up much clearer. Not perfect but a lot better than inside. I might be a dumbass for jumping to conclusions before testing it outside lol then again I might have a minor case ? Not sure.

@@shamrockjack3680 So this may just be stating the obvious but also make sure when you are aiming you are focusing on your target and not on the reticle. I've seen this in people that are using a red dot for the very first time say it is fuzzy when first looking through it, but then 5 minutes later "oh it's super clear when I look through it focusing at the target 50 ft away instead of the dot 8 inches away".
