0:45 I just wanted to point out that that is incorrect. Leopard geckos do not live in a desert type environment, they live in more of a rocky, soil-ish environment and they tend to stay away from desert type places.

Is there any more common materials to use for this that isn’t moss ? Can u use paper towels or something like that
@TyeDyedIguana4 жыл бұрын
We use moss as it holds humidity far more efficiently than some of the other materials. Paper towels need to be changed more often and tend to dry out faster.

Is it OK that my Leopard gecko lays Half out of his hide? (Please help me)
@josephbennett34824 жыл бұрын
Yes it's perfectly fine , they don't always go completely into their hide they'll sometimes lay partway outside of it to get some extra warmth during daytime if they are a little cold. Also being out and about during daytime hours every so often is also normal mostly as long as if it doesn't happen constantly because they are mostly active during the evening hours after sunset and very early morning hours around just before sunrise.
@LoveZyro4 жыл бұрын
@@josephbennett3482 and my Leopard geckos been laying on top of his hide at night is that ok
@josephbennett34824 жыл бұрын
@@LoveZyro yep , they lay on top of their hides to get the warmth that radiates from it after the daytime light goes off and if there is a nighttime light on for the habitat the gecko will lay on a hide that is positioned under the night lighting.

How often do you replace the moss? Also how do you get a heat gradient? Does that just happen naturally or nah? I wanna get a gecko but I dont want to mess it up. How do I prevent M.b.d?
@TyeDyedIguana4 жыл бұрын
Moss is replaced every few months, unless it becomes soiled or begins to smell off. Then it should be changed sooner. A proper heat gradient depends on what lighting you use, the size of the enclosure, and the ambient temperature of the room. MBD is prevented by supplying your reptile with the correct UVB lighting if required, and regular supplementation with calcium and multivitamin powders in their diet.

Leopard Geckos do NOT us heat lamps. The only heat a leopard gecko should have is an under tank heat mat to help with digestion. Leopard Geckos are Very CLEAN animals and the deficate in 1 cornered spot of their habitat. It is VERY unlikely that they would do this in their humid hide.
@TyeDyedIguana2 жыл бұрын
The use of UTHs in leopard geckos is an outdated practice. Not only do they only output IR-C, which only heats the surface of the reptile, they have little effect on the ambient temperature of the enclosure. A halogen light helps replicate a proper day/night cycle and also outputs IR-A, IR-B, and IR-C, allowing the reptile to receive heat that warms the animal to it's core. It also more accurately replicates the sun, especially if used in conjunction with a low level UVB bulb.
