You need to connect to NordVPN using your operating system's NordVPN app, then use the "wg" command to determine the data for config files. VPN on a router is a good idea, but when you're building home network take this into consideration: speeds are important. So use wiring when you can also use Wi-Fi range extenders (if you have a large house or apartment that is). It's a good video here but look for guides on how to set up an efficient home network, it will save you a lot of troubles.

In my particular case, I bought Cyberghost and the server choices aren't that great and some work for Netflix but not for Hulu, some do but don't for HBO, a whole mess... I just signed up for NordVPN yesterday. I flashed dd-wrt on my router and installed on my R7000. My router speed dropped from approx 500 mbps to approx 50 mbps. As soon as i disabled the vpn on the router it jumped back up to 500 mbps instantly. Support said that this is normal due and not much could be done to router capability and single vs multi threading.... is this true? I'd be fine with a10-20% drop but 90% speed drop makes this no worth it.

same - reading around it looks like its a limit of the OpenVPN protocol. It only uses a single processor. I don't think Nord blaming the router manufacturers is actually very fair. They should offer a protocol that is multi processor capable in my opinion! I drop from 960mb to 40mb!!
