Your video saved me from sending back my Echo Dot to Amazon. I was having trouble setting up my echo dot and called the number given on the error msg I kept getting during device setup. The Service rep was useless and kept insisting I let him take over my PC to set up my echo and when I refused he took me thru a bunch of useless steps and blamed the problem on my network settings and hung up on me. I was able to fix the problem using your video. Thank you so much!

That's the other thing mine did, once I got it in set up mode, it wouldn't stay there. About 30 seconds later the yellow light went out and it said something like, you are no longer in set. Up mode.

Call amazon support. They will ask for the DSN number on the back of Alexa and register it from their end. Worked for me after almost a year of not connecting to the internet.

One quick question. In Sony X85J, I enabled Alexa using Echo dot. Getting all commands executed (on, off, volume, pause, play etc) EXCEPT change of channels. Took me hours to figure out that one of my Access Points (NOT a router) were the reason my echo could not connect. Even though I was NOT trying to get the Echo to connect to them. If you have any access points unplug them, reset your router and try again. (leave the access points OFF)

FOR ANYONE WITH TROUBLES GETTING ECHO DOT FROM OFFLINE TO ONLINE - hard reset your phone, wifi modem, Echo Dot and Amazon Alexa app; begin the Echo Dot set-up process again, but this time try turning off your phone’s mobile data and switching to airplane mode with wifi on; connect your device to the same wifi network as your phone’s wifi, then it should work :) took me 3 long nights to get it to work 😂
